Two days later, Huoyu Island was finally reached.
The warship docked at the port. Xiao led half of the accompanying navy soldiers to escort the seven Giants ashore, while the three CP9 agents quietly sought out Figo once again.
"Warden Figo, you may go to the island's town for a vacation. For the upcoming operation, we hope you won't participate, and it's best if you don't follow."
This was a second warning.
"Fine." Figo was still agreeable.
The three CP9 agents gave him a deep look, then vanished from the spot in a flash, leaving only six shallow footprints on the deck before them.
"Shave?"
Figo gave them one point for this display of force; he withheld zero only to spare them tears.
After a moment's thought, his figure also vanished from the cabin just like the three CP9 agents. In the blink of an eye, he had mimicked and learned the use of Shave!
Some things, once understood, connect everything. The Six Powers were a sharp tool for officer-level fighters, but for him now, they were already quite basic.
Huoyu Island was small, with only one town. The seven Giants would be escorted to the town center, put on display for half a day, and executed in the afternoon.
Not too long, for fear of other Giants coming to rescue them.
Not too short, or there would be no deterrent effect.
At least on the surface, that was the plan.
After disembarking, Figo glanced in the direction where the Giants were being escorted but didn't follow the procession.
Some things shouldn't be judged before the results appear. Though the World Government played the villain in the One Piece World, Figo felt it shouldn't be evil to that extent. The arrow pointing to Peslo might just mean that Peslo, as the head of CP9, knew the truth behind the Giant girl's death.
Figo hoped so. Otherwise, he'd have to report this to the Fleet Admiral and see what his reaction was.
First, he'd complete his original goal.
He pulled up the Prison Archives, found Doham's page, and used the Character Event pointing function again.
The arrow pointed to the distant mountain forest.
Figo followed the arrow's guidance.
After driving off a bear, a wild boar, and a gorilla-like Kong, Figo reached the arrow's endpoint without much trouble.
Ten years had passed since Doham buried his treasure, but this mountain forest looked the same, even the towering ancient tree Figo had seen before remained unchanged, making it easy to confirm. He walked to where the arrow pointed straight down, crouched, measured the thick soil, and formed his hands into claws.
'Armament Haki—Reinforcement!'
In an instant, both his palms were dyed pitch black, their hardness and strength increased.
Then he dug rapidly with his hands, sending dirt flying. Before long, he had scooped out a large pit and found the two small treasure chests caked with soil.
Doham's buried treasure, successfully unearthed!
Both chests were locked. Figo observed for a moment, then picked up a small stick from nearby.
He poked and prodded, poked and prodded.
Snap! The stick broke.
Figo frowned, then found another suitable small stick nearby.
Poked and prodded... Snap!
The stick broke again.
Figo opened the Prison Archives and glanced at it.
Theft: 273 (Level 2 Sleight of Hand)
"No good?" Figo was a bit troubled.
He suddenly exerted force with his hands!
Bang! The chest snapped.
Over a dozen strings of gold and silver jewelry tumbled out from the broken chest, scattering all over the ground.
Figo checked them, then crushed the other chest as well. Inside were various colored gemstones.
Figo didn't know their exact value, but figured it must be several hundred million Berry, since it was treasure worth burying by a Great Pirate.
After a moment's thought, he took off his coat, spread it on the ground, placed the jewelry and gems on it, tied it into a bundle, and ran quickly toward the sea with the sack of treasure. He found a coastal cliff.
The height wasn't great—only five or six meters.
Figo checked Doham's Character Event again to confirm. It didn't say he needed to throw the treasure into the middle of the sea; this spot should be fine.
But just as he was about to hurl the bundle down, he suddenly sensed some kind of threat. His body tensed sharply, and he looked up at the sky.
The next moment, crack! In broad daylight, a bolt of lightning struck without cause, bringing a patch of dark clouds that gathered precisely over Figo's head!
A light drizzle began to fall.
The entire change took no more than three seconds.
Even in the One Piece World, this couldn't be natural. Sure enough, a crisp female voice rang out from a distance: "Please stop!"
Figo turned around and saw a woman in a blue nun's habit walking quickly toward him.
This woman had delicate features, fair skin, golden curly hair, and a graceful figure. Her large eyes were so clear they seemed to pierce into others' souls—truly the most beautiful woman Figo had seen since his transmigration.
The only flaw was the cigarette slanted between her lips, carrying a hint of roguishness, yet paradoxically radiating a holy glow.
"This is a warning from the gods!"
She spread her arms, gesturing at the dark clouds above Figo. "The gods granted you wealth, and you dare to throw it into the sea?!
Your riches could fund starving beggars! Support the elderly with no one to rely on! Adopt poor orphans!
Above all, they should not be discarded carelessly!"
Figo looked up, then down.
His clothes hadn't fully wrapped the treasure, leaving a glint of gold exposed.
Figo naturally didn't believe the thunderclouds were a divine warning—it had to be a Devil Fruit ability.
The Rumble-Rumble Fruit? No, not quite.
"Perfect timing. I'm planning to build a big family where orphans of all races can live in harmony, ignoring conflicts and differences! Meeting you here must be divine guidance."
Crack—thunder struck again!
The Nun smiled at Figo.
Aren't you going to follow the gods' guidance?!
Figo paused, then couldn't help but laugh.
"Such a pretty girl, why does she have to smoke a cigarette, wear a nun's habit, and play the prophet?"
He sighed inwardly, tossed the bundle containing Doham's treasure into the sea, then quickly turned and jumped in after it!
The Nun froze, stunned, and strode toward the cliff's edge, only to stop after a few steps.
With a splash, a drenched Figo climbed back onto the shore, still clutching the treasure bundle, landing right across from her!
Figo glanced at the Character Event—it was marked complete, allowing him to choose a reward again, this time any one of Doham's dozens of abilities. A flicker of joy rose in his heart.
He'd successfully exploited a bug!
The event required him to throw the treasure, but it never said he couldn't fish it back out of the water!
But this back-and-forth left the Nun bewildered, staring blankly.
Figo looked at her and asked, "Did your gods tell you I was just using this treasure to practice my swimming skills?"
Trying to scam your master Figo? I think you're asking for prison!
The Nun was silent.
After a long moment, she pulled the cigarette from her lips with two slender fingers, exhaled a wisp of smoke, and her holy aura faded.
Killing intent rose!
"What a pain."
She had planned a rehearsal, only to run into a lunatic.
If she'd known, she would've just robbed him outright!
