New Soul Bone Discovery

Seeing Jerry's soul bones, Er Ming said, "Actually, we came across soul bones over the past several ten thousand years. Although soul bones contain a great deal of soul power, we soul beasts can't absorb them. Moreover, they contain traces of the soul beasts' original spiritual power, which is why they come with soul skills. We were afraid that humans would become even stronger if they got hold of them, so we threw them all into the Lake of Life where Da Ming cultivated! If you want them, I'll have Da Ming fish them out for you!"

Jerry grew excited when he heard that. Several ten thousand years of accumulation—there should be plenty of them. With that thought, he hurried off with Er Ming to call Da Ming.

Unfortunately, Jerry did not have a protagonist's plot armor. Da Ming fished out seven or eight soul bones, but after being submerged for so many years, they had all rotted away. Not a single one was intact. Sure enough, he just didn't have the fate of a protagonist. Protagonists could kill anything and get a soul bone even from a Hundred-Year Soul Beast, or even stumble across soul bones lying around. When it came to him, he got nothing!

Time truly was a butcher's knife! Even such hard soul bones could not withstand the passage of time! Now he had a few more useless scraps.

Then inspiration struck him. Soul bones were still bones—his martial soul should be able to absorb them, right? He acted immediately. He went to the cultivation area by the entrance, buried all the soul bones in the ground, and planted his martial soul above them! Even intact bones could be absorbed. They might not absorb as quickly as bones ground into powder, but they could still be absorbed!

Jerry began controlling his martial soul. Under the observation of his Spiritual Power, he saw countless roots rapidly grow from it, slowly wrapping around the soul bones in the soil. Some of Jerry's finer roots even squeezed toward the bones as though trying to force their way inside, constantly attempting it! Jerry felt there was hope and watched intently. Sure enough, after several hours, some of the tiny roots had pierced into the soul bones. Plant life truly was remarkable! Then Jerry felt waves of soul power surging toward him. He quickly circulated the Advanced Meditation Method to speed up the refinement. His entire body felt comfortable and pleasantly warm!

Soon afterward, Jerry sensed wisps of Spiritual Power flowing in as well. His martial soul was actually devouring the soul beasts' original Spiritual Power within the soul bones. Jerry was stunned. He had never absorbed any Spiritual Power from the bone fertilizer he had used before. That was because ordinary bones contained no soul beast Spiritual Power; only soul rings and soul bones did.

Now that his martial soul was absorbing the Spiritual Power in the soul bones, his own Spiritual Power was also growing in a way he could clearly sense. Previously, Jerry's powerful Spiritual Power allowed him to perceive anything within two meters of him, but now that range was steadily expanding! Jerry knew the benefits of improving his Spiritual Power, so he immediately began cultivating in earnest!

Cultivation knew no passage of time. Jerry cultivated for a full four months. Xiao Wu, Da Ming, and Er Ming could tell that he was at a critical point in his cultivation, so they did not disturb him! When Jerry finally woke, he felt as though he was about to collapse. He had gone four months without food or water; he was not yet capable of living without sustenance. Now he was little more than skin and bones. He quickly asked Xiao Wu to get him something to eat, then began wolfing it down. Only after eating more than ten jin of roasted meat did Jerry feel alive again. Xiao Wu was terribly worried when she saw him like that, and only relaxed once she knew he was fine. She told Jerry to eat more over the next few days to replenish his nutrition!

After recovering, he checked his condition. His soul power cultivation had reached Level 40, though he vaguely felt it was even higher. Before adding soul rings, Jerry had been able to sense his Soul Power Level clearly. Now that his level was higher, however, his perception had become inaccurate. After all, this was his first time cultivating in this life, and he was still sorely lacking in knowledge about higher levels!

He summoned his martial soul, and it had changed drastically. It had already resembled ginseng before, but now it had directly become the shape of a small child. Its head, body, arms, and legs were all clearly defined. Unlike a child, though, carrot leaves sprouted from the top of its head, and its color remained carrot-orange. Moreover, its body had now grown larger than its leaves. If the roots on its body were scraped clean and the leaves on its head removed, it would look exactly like a newborn baby! Could his martial soul have become a spirit? He sensed it carefully. Fortunately, it had no consciousness and was still under his control, which reassured him greatly. From what he could sense, this Martial Soul Evolution had raised his Innate Soul Power to around level eight. That meant Jerry could be considered a little genius. Even without planting his martial soul, his Cultivation Speed would not be slow!
