In the distant Far North, the weather was bitterly cold, and fierce winds ravaged the snow-white land.
Deep in the Far North, inside a palace carved from ice, a figure as if meticulously sculpted by the heavens sat quietly upon an icy throne in the center of the hall.
She had long, pure-white hair that fell all the way to her feet. Her sky-blue eyes were clear and ethereal, as if they could see through everything in the world. She was tall and slender, with a flawless figure. Her white dress had not a single ornament, yet she looked noble and breathtakingly beautiful, like a plum blossom blooming in the winter snow—exceptional, proud, and untouched by frost. Her translucent jade feet rested on the ice, enough to drive every prison warden wild.
She was the absolute ruler of the Far North, ranked third on the Ferocious Beast leaderboard, and had cultivated for six hundred and ninety thousand years: the Heavenly Snow Woman!
Snow Empress's fair, flawless hands gently toyed with a piece of jade, a thoughtful look appearing in her ethereal eyes.
The jade clearly reflected the chat window of the Diary copy chat group, and her nickname was simply Xue'er.
Bing'er had chosen that nickname for her.
Ice Empress found the Diary copy that had suddenly appeared in their sea of consciousness, along with the jade, intriguing. Snow Empress, however, was puzzled.
She couldn't imagine what sort of being could implant something like this in her sea of consciousness.
Even the Ice God probably couldn't do that, could she?
That would also explain why the rewards offered by this Diary copy were so generous.
Of that long list of rewards, only one truly appealed to her—overcoming the Heavenly Tribulation.
It was obvious that this reward was specifically aimed at Soul Beasts... or rather, listed separately for her and Bing'er.
Perhaps there were other Soul Beasts in the copy chat group, but by coincidence, her and Bing'er's cultivation had both reached the threshold where they would soon face a great tribulation.
And neither she nor Bing'er had any confidence that they could survive the Heavenly Tribulation.
Would she receive a reward by having her name appear in the Diary?
Snow Empress shook her head regretfully.
She didn't think a human named Ao Yao would write her and Bing'er's names in his Diary.
[Nothing to do today. Brothel—scratch that.]
[What's up with this Diary today? It's demanding that I write about Huo Gua?]
[Fine, whatever. I'll write!]
[So, Huo Gua... oh, no, I'm writing a Diary, not telling a story. Sorry, sorry~]
[I have to say, Huo Yuhao really is this world's Child of Destiny. It's no surprise Tang San had his eye on him. A good-for-nothing with an Innate Soul Power of only level one... well, before I got the Diary, I was a good-for-nothing too. But judging by Innate Soul Power, Huo Yuhao was even more useless than me.]
[Although Huo Yuhao's innate level was pathetic, his luck was incredible! He was about to absorb a Ten-Year Wind Baboon's Soul Ring, but the only Million-Year Soul Beast in existence, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, actually came to him and offered to become his Wisdom Soul Ring. He even got a Divine Sense Fragment from Electrolux, who came from another world.]
[A Million-Year Soul Ring and a Divine Sense Fragment from Electrolux. No wonder people called him Huo Gua. The most ridiculous part was that the big bug, Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, even managed to give Huo Yuhao a Second Martial Soul.]
[After going back and forth over which Second Martial Soul to choose, he finally set his sights on Ice Empress.]
Inside the icy palace, Ice Empress sprang to her feet, her expression furious. "How dare it!?"
Ice Empress remembered the giant silkworm named Tian Meng. The Ice Silkworm Clan was her food, especially Ice Silkworms with such high cultivation. She had hunted that particular Ice Silkworm, but it had vanished afterward.
Ice Empress had assumed Sky Dream Ice Silkworm was probably dead by now. After all, it was a useless creature with no real offensive ability. She'd never imagined it would become the first Million-Year Soul Beast in history, become the Wisdom Soul Ring of a human called Huo Yuhao, and then set its sights on her!
That damn bug!
[I wonder what Ice Empress was thinking. She somehow wound up on Huo Yuhao and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm's pirate ship. Talking about creating a god... that's ridiculous! That's just cheating, plain and simple!]
[A good-for-nothing with an Innate Soul Power of level one gets a Million-Year Soul Ring, a Divine Sense Fragment from Electrolux, and even Ice Empress's sacrifice, gaining Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion as an Ultimate Ice Martial Soul, along with a Soul Ring and Soul Bone nearing four hundred thousand years... If that isn't cheating, what is?]
[Oh, wait. My cheat is even more powerful than Huo Yuhao's. Never mind.]
Me?
Sacrifice herself to a human brat with an Innate Soul Power of only level one?
In his dreams!
Not in this lifetime!
Burning with rage, Ice Empress wished she could appear before Huo Yuhao right then and crush the damn human to death.
Pah!
You think I'd sacrifice myself to you? Take this claw first!
Watching Ice Empress vent her fury on one of the palace's icy pillars, Snow Empress's eyes took on a thoughtful look. She had heard Bing'er mention the Soul Beast named Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, and could roughly guess how it had persuaded Bing'er.
It would have played on Bing'er's constant worry that she couldn't overcome the Heavenly Tribulation, tempting her to sacrifice herself for that boy named Huo Yuhao. With a Million-Year Soul Ring and Bing'er's sacrifice, creating a god might indeed be possible, and they could achieve immortality that way.
If the Diary didn't exist, and they knew they couldn't overcome the Heavenly Tribulation, the plan to create a god might have had some chance of success. Bing'er might... truly have chosen that path.
But now, they clearly had a better option.
That Diary... and the boy named Ao Yao...
Just moments ago, Snow Empress had thought their names wouldn't appear in the Diary, and that they couldn't receive any of the supposed rewards from it.
But today's entry had given her a delightful surprise.
Watching Ice Empress continue to vent her anger, Snow Empress smiled helplessly and said gently, "All right, Bing'er. Stop taking it out on the pillar."
"That damn Sky Dream Ice Silkworm! It makes me so mad!"
Hearing Snow Empress comfort her, Ice Empress moved to her side, looking a little aggrieved. "Even if I die in the Heavenly Tribulation, I'll never sacrifice myself to a human!"
"I know."
Snow Empress gently rested a hand on Ice Empress. Her tender touch gradually soothed Ice Empress's agitation. "The Diary records things that will happen in the future. But now that we know about them in advance, we can clearly prevent them from happening."
At that, Ice Empress finally calmed down, though she still snorted.
"If that Sky Dream Ice Silkworm dares show up in front of me, I'll make him regret it! I'll beat him so badly his own mother won't recognize him!"
