Background

Ao Yao descends from a former Level 98 Super Douluo who served as a protector of the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. His ancestor possessed the Spirit Binding Pearl, but generations of malignant Martial Soul mutations reduced Ao Yao’s inheritance to an ordinary, dull bead and left him with only 2.5 innate Soul Power. The sect nevertheless supported him, and he lived a largely carefree life without becoming a target of ridicule or hostility. 1 11

After years of stagnation, he obtained the Wish Come True Diary in his mind. Writing his first entry activated a beginner gift with a guaranteed critical strike, transforming his prospects completely. 1 3

The beginner gift evolved his original bead into the ultimate light- and divinity-aligned Spirit Pearl, awakened the darkness- and destruction-aligned Demon Pill as his second Martial Soul, and raised him to Soul Elder level. 3

Ning Tian arranged for him to enroll at Shrek Academy alongside her, both because of his family’s service to her sect and because she wished to interact with him more frequently. On the way, Ao Yao stayed in the Star Dou Great Forest to seek Electrolux’s Divine Sense Fragment; he ultimately accepted Electrolux’s remnant soul into his spiritual sea instead of allowing it to enter Huo Yuhao. 6 13 19

Appearance

Ao Yao is repeatedly noted for his exceptionally handsome appearance, which stands out even among Shrek Academy’s students. Ning Tian considers it difficult to find a young man of comparable looks on the continent, while Wang Dong’er judges him the most handsome boy she has seen. 14 28

He is wary of Tang San and views Tang San’s plans for Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong’er as manipulative. Although he disapproves of Huo Yuhao’s eventual choices, he initially sympathizes with Huo Yuhao’s difficult circumstances and deliberately accepts Electrolux’s remnant soul in hopes of changing Huo Yuhao’s future. 18 19 22 30
