Though the City of Abundance had a population of over thirty thousand, it wasn't very large. After wandering around for half an hour, the two arrived at the entrance to the city hall, where missions were posted.
Compared to the sparsely populated Saint Brieuc Fortress, the city's administrative system was much more developed, and its offices were correspondingly grand.
The city hall occupied two acres. It was a refined, two-story building, both stately and dignified, yet elegant and luxurious.
Colliver seemed very familiar with the place. The staff all greeted him with polite smiles, and some even came over to say hello.
Renard suddenly remembered that Colliver had once commanded the Black Rider Army. Naturally, he would know the city hall inside and out.
When the staff at the front desk learned the two had come to take a mission, they eagerly led them upstairs. As they walked, the employee said, "Thank goodness you're here. Lord James has been tearing his hair out over this for ages."
The three reached an office at the end of the corridor. The employee knocked on the door and called inside, "Lord James, someone's taken that damn mission!"
A long while passed before an impatient voice came from the office. "Let them in."
The office door opened from within, and two disheveled, moderately attractive married women strolled out without a hint of hurry.
They both rolled their eyes at the employee, then glanced sideways at Colliver and Renard, their expressions full of disdain. They looked at the two as if they were a pair of country bumpkins.
The two women both gave a soft snort and reluctantly headed downstairs, muttering, "What a buzzkill. Stupid country folk."
