No matter what, Dao Wushuang was still someone they could trust. Since he had given his word, Huantao should be fine.
"So you don't need to worry. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to fret," Huantao said, forcing a smile.
"You looked better before. More natural."
Hua Yunfei looked at Huantao. "Is the Venerable Lord some kind of dark figure? How come Senior Sister got so cold after he gave her a little power?"
Huantao froze and touched her face. "Do I look that bad?"
Gong Qingyan said, "He's teasing you. You look lovely."
Huantao looked at Hua Yunfei. He said, "Just kidding. You're as beautiful as ever. You even have a hint of melancholy now, which makes you more distinctive."
The corner of Huantao's mouth lifted. "That's good, then."
The four exchanged smiles. Even Jiang Ruoyao's lips curved slightly, no longer as indifferent as before.
"I thought I'd hidden it well. I didn't expect you'd still notice. Habits really are hard to break." Huantao shook her head.
"I had my suspicions earlier, too, but didn't think much of them. I assumed it was a coincidence," Gong Qingyan said.
"I only confirmed it earlier, at Huashan, when Senior Sister used her power to resolve my crisis."
Hua Yunfei said, "Although Senior Sister's power comes from the Venerable Lord, a trace of her own aura remains within it. That feeling is especially obvious once it enters the body."
Huantao was surprised. "Junior Brother, you really are extraordinary. What feels especially obvious to you might seem utterly flawless to everyone else."
She had considered this as well, but since Hua Yunfei's cultivation wasn't very advanced yet, she had thought he wouldn't notice.
Who would have guessed that Hua Yunfei could actually sense it?
It seemed she had underestimated him
