In an instant, purple light appeared in the pitch-black eye sockets of all one hundred statues. Then, every statue began to move.

Thud! Thud! Thud...!

To the rhythm of those sounds, the hundred statues slowly stepped forward to the center. They remained divided into two groups, but after lining up face-to-face, they turned at the same time and formed a squad of one hundred.

However, the statue in the middle had no saber in its hand. The saber that had just nailed the squad leader to the ground should have belonged to that statue.

When the squad leader was nailed to the ground, one of the two mercenaries was so frightened that he collapsed onto the floor. The other mercenary grabbed him and immediately ran.

Naturally, they had seen clearly that the squad leader was beyond saving. The saber had pierced directly through his chest, so there was no point even trying to rescue him.

Thus, the two mercenaries could only abandon their dead squad leader and turn to flee.

If they did not run now, were they supposed to wait for the next saber? Only an idiot would stay there. Running was the only sensible choice. The two stumbled as they fled, but they were still quite fast. By the time the statues emerged, they had already returned to the group.

Perhaps the Metal Monsters needed time to activate, or perhaps they simply disdained attacking the two while they were running. In any case, the mercenaries were not attacked as they fled back to where the others were hiding.

"Mike, Mike, answer me!" Tra called out several times, but received no reply from the squad leader. Though she had seen the saber nail him to the ground, she still refused to give up.

"Damn it! What happened to Mike?"
