It was already past one in the afternoon when he left Wall Street; the signing of various contracts and procedures had taken up a lot of time. Yuri drove around and found a seemingly large buffet restaurant on the street. Under the bewildered gaze of the waiter, he single-handedly refreshed the selection of meats in the dining area a full thirteen times. The owner then bowed and scraped as he escorted Yuri out, handing him coupons for several other buffet restaurants.
Driving aimlessly around the streets, Yuri couldn't help but marvel at the speed of human evolution, even though everything he saw had already surfaced in his memory. From creatures who ate raw meat and drank blood to civilized people in fine clothes, they had managed it all in just tens of thousands of years. The souls beneath their frail bodies had grown even faster. It was no wonder that the awakening of the Earth's Celestials was triggered by the extinction of only half the population.
As he was driving, he was suddenly drawn to a movie poster plastered on the exterior wall of a cinema: Shadow Warrior: Journey Through Time, starring Jinger, will arrive in New York on the 24th of this month!
"Heh."
Yuri took out his phone and glanced at it, his golden eyes filled with anticipation. "What a coincidence, Jinger. I was planning to find you in Bollywood..."
Jinger: One of the Eternals who descended to Earth. He can fire powerful energy blasts from his fingers. After a brief charge, he can also conjure a super-sized energy ball with both hands, comparable in power to an artillery shell. He possesses a fast attack frequency and a wide attack range. He often hides behind Phastos's iron fortress to output damage, causing considerable harm to the former Mutants.
After sealing or killing all the Mutants, the ten-member Eternal team disbanded. Jinger wandered the world, becoming infatuated with acting and filmmaking. Due to the Eternals' ageless nature, he had to single-handedly create an entire family tree. By the current generation, he should already be the great-great-grandson of his original self.
Yuri quickly scanned his memories, wishing he could teleport back to the small shop immediately and search the internet for Jinger's specific whereabouts. At least twenty percent of the blood debt owed by the Mutants fell on this guy's shoulders. Now that he had come to his territory, he would kill him no matter what.
Taking a deep breath to calm his inner turmoil, he sharply turned the steering wheel and stepped on the accelerator, heading back to the shop.
Pushing open the door, the first thing Yuri saw was five humanoid Mutants standing in a line, each holding a stack of papers covered in writing. Vanax, at the front, proudly extended the three sheets of paper in her hand and complained in an unclear, indescribable accent, "Boss~, why did you take so long to come back? We finished the plan before lunch, and we've been waiting all afternoon for you to approve it~"
Yuri ignored her. As he walked past the five, he took their Search for Kin plans. He nodded at Ethan, who was peeking out from behind a book behind the counter, and quickly headed upstairs, saying, "You five, follow me. There's something very important I need to tell you."
Shark and the other four exchanged glances. Although they were full of questions, they followed without a word.
Ethan put down his book behind the counter and touched his shiny forehead. He had specifically borrowed several books on company management and personnel allocation from next door today, but he had only managed to read a few dozen pages so far. He now envied the learning ability of the group of five to the point of feeling inferior. He pushed up his glasses that had slid to the tip of his nose and shook his head, sighing sincerely, "I'm getting old..."
Third floor of the small shop.
Yuri quickly opened his laptop and, under the watchful eyes of the five Mutants, typed keywords like "Bollywood," "Shadow Warrior," "Jinger," and "Itinerary" into the search engine. A poster featuring a giant motorcycle appeared. Yuri clicked on the image and chose to enlarge it. Amidst the increasingly heavy breaths of the five behind him, he rotated his chair 180 degrees to face them.
Looking at their eyes filled with hatred, he nodded with satisfaction. "After annihilating us all, the Eternals integrated into human society and went into hiding. I have already killed their leader, Ajak, the intelligent Phastos, the Mind Controller Druid, and the super-fast Makkari. And this person you see is the sharpshooter hiding among humans – Jinger!"
"In the countless years past, he caused immeasurable harm to our race. Tens of thousands of our kin died at the hands of this despicable individual who only knew how to hide in his turtle shell and launch sneak attacks. Now, although our numbers are few, with my help, all of you have improved a thousand or even ten thousand times compared to before you were sealed. Whether it's recovery, soul strength, speed, or the powerful weapons I now command, we are capable of facing the remaining six Eternals one-on-one."
"Boss."
Shark, the most composed, spoke first this time. His voice trembled slightly with excitement, and his muscles twitched uncontrollably. "Where is he? I can't wait to kill him right now!"
Hearing this, Yuri gave him a hard headbutt. He grabbed Shark, who was as strong as a bear, by the ear and dragged the simpleton, whose reason had been overwhelmed by emotion, in front of the computer screen. "Where, where? Do I have to tell you everything? Can't you see the words this big on the computer screen!"
Shark bared his teeth and finished reading the content on the screen. "According to reports, Jinger will arrive in New York on the evening of the 24th. After staying at the Shalina Hotel for one night, he will begin his promotional event for his new work, Shadow Warrior: Journey Through Time, in the plaza in front of the hotel starting at 8 AM the next morning."
"I see it, I see it."
Although Shark was in pain, he dared not break free from Yuri's grip on his ear. He could only plead apologetically, "Boss, I was wrong. I really see it now."
"Hmph!"
Thanks to the Mutants' powerful physique, Yuri yanked Shark's ear backward with great force. The immense strength did not tear off the seemingly insignificant appendage but instead used it to propel Shark's entire body to slam heavily against the wall panel behind him.
The remaining four, Vanax included, paid no attention to Shark's disheveled state. Their eyes were fixed on Yuri, waiting for his next command.
"Today is the 24th."
Yuri glanced at Shark, who was shrinking back and standing in line. Shark immediately put down his right hand, which he was using to rub his ear, and assumed a posture of attentive listening.
"As the saying goes, haste makes waste. We definitely cannot seek revenge before Jinger enters the hotel. While we would certainly succeed in our objective then, the impact would be too great and would not align with our principle of acting discreetly. Therefore, my plan is to postpone your plan to learn from Daredevil and fight crime tonight. After midnight, we will sneak into the hotel and kill Jinger with lightning speed!"
Seeing that no one had any objections, he instructed Cheetah, who had performed the best overall, "Go to Hell's Kitchen and find the Murdock Law Firm. Tell Matthew that we will be Partners of Justice together tomorrow night."
After thinking that there were no oversights, he had the remaining four adjust their states while he began preparing weapons and equipment for tonight's revenge mission.
