"Who are you calling 'thank you'? I'm talking about my name! My name is Xie Xie—the Xie from 'chance encounter'!" Xie Xie said angrily.
"Sorry, sorry. What can I do for you?"
Seeing Xie Xie's furious expression, Luo Ze immediately had another bad feeling.
He isn't looking to fight me again, is he?
"Come to the training ground with me. Let's fight again! I want to see what you're really capable of!"
During his first fight with Luo Ze, Xie Xie had lost without understanding why. He had not even seen his opponent's Soul Skill before being sent flying in a daze.
For a genius with eighteen levels of Soul Power, this was a tremendous humiliation—especially since his handsome face had been slapped!
If he did not get even, then from today onward, he would write the name Xie Xie backward!
"Sorry, I have things to do today. I don't want to fight."
A fight would definitely damage public property, and damaging public property meant paying compensation. Although they could use the combat room, that cost money too.
His money did not fall from the sky. Why should he fight?
"Why not? Are you looking down on me?" Xie Xie said angrily.
Even with his face still swollen, his imposing manner had not weakened in the slightest.
"I'm afraid of spending money. Renting a combat room costs three thousand Federal currency each time!" Luo Ze explained.
"Money isn't a problem. I'll pay, as long as you fight me!"
Xie Xie's gaze was incomparably resolute, as though he had set his sights on Luo Ze.
"Brother Luo, I think you should fight him. He seems pretty determined. If you refuse, he'll probably keep following you around," Tang Wulin said quietly, pulling Luo Ze aside.
"But aren't we going to register at the Blacksmith Association? If we're late, we'll get punished again," Luo Ze replied in a low voice.
"It's fine. I'll ask for leave for you. You won't be fined!" Tang Wulin said.
Hearing that he would not be fined, Luo Ze felt much better and began considering whether to fight Xie Xie again.
"What are you two whispering about? Luo Ze, if you're a man, be straightforward. Are we fighting or not?" Xie Xie provoked him.
"If you pay, I'll fight," Luo Ze said.
The moment he finished speaking, Xie Xie grabbed Luo Ze and dragged him out of the dormitory at high speed. Anyone unaware of the situation might have thought they were close friends.
Eastsea Academy, combat room.
After paying five thousand Federal currency, the two entered a massive hall roughly fifty meters long and wide. The floor was made of shock-absorbing steel, and specialized soul guidance formations were engraved on the ground to withstand and disperse the impact caused by Soul Masters.
"Xie Xie, an eighteenth-level Agile Attack Battle Soul Master. My Martial Soul is the Light Dragon Dagger. For the sake of fairness, I'll keep fifty meters away from you before we begin. You may prepare now."
As he spoke, Xie Xie released his Martial Soul and walked toward the edge of the room.
Though he badly wanted to return that slap right now, as a descendant of a great clan, he had his own pride. He would not resort to such underhanded tactics.
"Wait a moment!" Luo Ze called out to Xie Xie and walked toward him.
"What, are you admitting defeat?"
Xie Xie gave a disdainful smile and turned around. Luo Ze's right hand lightly touched Xie Xie's swollen cheek. Something seemed to flicker on his right arm as a gentle stream of Soul Power entered it.
"What are you doing?!" Xie Xie blushed in alarm and tried to push Luo Ze away.
The next second, his swollen and painful cheek had already returned to normal.
"Alright, we can begin now." Luo Ze withdrew his hand, and the light radiating from his right arm disappeared.
"A soul bone?!" Xie Xie stared at Luo Ze in disbelief.
As one of Eastsea's young elites, he was well-informed. With just one glance at that radiance, he recognized it as a soul bone—and one of no low age.
"Are we fighting or not? Hurry up and start!" Luo Ze urged impatiently.
"Fight! Of course we're fighting!"
Xie Xie put away his strange feelings and widened the distance between himself and Luo Ze once more. However, there was clearly less hostility in his expression as he looked at him.
Once both sides were ready, Tang Wulin, serving as the referee, gave the order to begin.
The instant his words fell, Xie Xie pushed off with his right foot and suddenly accelerated. Like a sharp sword, he charged before Luo Ze in an instant.
As he dashed forward, a faint yellow glow flashed around Xie Xie's body. Immediately afterward, the Light Dragon Dagger appeared in his right hand.
"Qilin Possession!"
Seeing Xie Xie charging toward him, Luo Ze's gaze sharpened. His Crimson Red pupils and golden sacred figure appeared once again.
With the possession of the Kirin Martial Soul, the Bloodline Power within Luo Ze instantly boiled, releasing a thunderous roar of intimidation with the bearing of an absolute superior.
Luo Ze's Soul Power was three levels lower than Xie Xie's, but one had to remember that the Bloodline Power in his body was far stronger than Xie Xie's.
Martial Souls placed great importance on bloodline rank. With that advantage, no matter how much higher Xie Xie's level was, he could not possibly defeat Luo Ze.
However, to show respect for Xie Xie, Luo Ze still used Martial Soul Possession.
From their brief time together, as well as Xie Xie's attire and manner of speaking, it was not difficult for Luo Ze to see that Xie Xie must have come from a great clan and was surely that clan's Successor.
Successors like him all possessed their own pride. If Luo Ze did not use his Martial Soul, Xie Xie would definitely think Luo Ze looked down on him from the bottom of his heart.
For the unity of their future class and dormitory, and to spare himself trouble, fighting with his Martial Soul was undoubtedly the simplest method.
Of course, this was not a life-or-death duel, and Xie Xie was not an enemy. Luo Ze had no intention of using his First Soul Skill. If he really knocked the other party unconscious, the match would lose any sense of challenge.
In the distance, as the Kirin Martial Soul appeared, that deep terror surfaced once more in Xie Xie's heart. The Light Dragon Dagger in his hand trembled slightly.
His Light Dragon Dagger Martial Soul possessed an extremely high light attribute and was among the finest of the Dragon Clan. If it could make his Martial Soul feel fear, then there was no doubt that Luo Ze's Kirin Martial Soul was of even higher quality!
"Here it comes again!"
Xie Xie furrowed his brow. This time, he had learned his lesson. Rather than charging forward immediately, he used his speed advantage to form a huge encirclement around Luo Ze, using afterimages to confuse Luo Ze's vision.
It had to be said that this was an excellent tactic. If an ordinary Soul Master had been standing here, Xie Xie's circling would likely have left them dizzy and unable to find his true body.
Unfortunately, Luo Ze was not ordinary. When his Martial Soul already held a suppressive advantage in quality, extra tactics would only become a pointless trick.
"Don't say I didn't give you a chance!"
Luo Ze swept his gaze around him. With astonishingly sharp perception, he instantly caught Xie Xie, who was hidden among the rapidly moving afterimages. Clenching his fists, he struck Xie Xie in the chest with a single blow.
"Bang—"
With a muffled groan, Xie Xie was sent flying backward and slammed heavily into the wall, passing out.
"The match is over! Brother Luo wins!" Tang Wulin announced the result.
