Wu Changkong was already known at Eastsea Academy as its strongest figure and an unusually aloof, independent instructor. He disregarded the standard curriculum, taught according to his own methods, and had a reputation for refusing to accommodate even the academy principal. 50

As Class Five's teacher, he identified Luo Ze, Tang Wulin, and Xie Xie as the class's strongest candidates for the Promotion Match. He began their preparation by issuing weighted Iron Chain Clothes and ordering specialized physical training. 47 He later expanded this approach into individualized training: endurance for Xie Xie, elemental precision for Gu Yue, reaction training for Tang Wulin, and personal breakthrough-focused training for Luo Ze. 54

When Luo Ze entered deep Meditation, he protected him from disturbance, attempted to delay the train's departure, and ultimately carried Luo Ze—still seated—off the train. 120 121 He later brought Luo Ze to Heaven Dou Cemetery and carefully tended the grave of Long Bing. 123

By the time of later Shrek Academy events, Wu Changkong had reached the seven-ring Soul Sage realm and could deploy his Sky Frost Sword Martial Soul Avatar to freeze a broad section of seawater and restrain Sea Soul Beasts. 396 After Luo Ze's return as a Titled Douluo, Wu Changkong reacted with shock and emotion, reaffirming the depth of their teacher-student bond. 556
