Useless

What was the old era, and what was the new era? This was not something that could be glossed over in a single sentence from some novel or manga. It was a transformation truly taking place.

The way ninjas were trained was changing, and the role ninjas truly played was changing as well. Though certain characteristics remained, the old way of accepting and carrying out missions was gone for good. The Anbu and Root no longer had any reason to exist.

Ninjas were no longer the private armies of villages or even Kage. They no longer needed to faithfully devote themselves to some person or group. Instead, they played vital roles in every profession and industry.

Though darkness still existed in the world, along with all sorts of ambitious people, there were specialists assigned to deal with them. Others no longer schemed against one another as they had in the past.

They were still ninjas and even retained things like forehead protectors, but ninjas now lived more like people.

After graduating from the Ninja Academy, those who wanted to form teams and take on missions like the old ninjas could do so. Those who wanted to apply what they had learned and join the vast, rapidly developing world of production could do that too.

The most exceptional ninjas no longer aspired to join the so-called Anbu or Root to defend their villages, nor did they wish to become Jonin and rise to prominence.

Perhaps some wished to become Kage and serve as the head of a region, but more took pride in joining Orochimaru's fleet. They wanted to leave this planet and travel to wondrous worlds they had never seen before.

At a time like this, claiming that the era had not changed was what would truly be difficult.
