Background / History

Master recognized Tang San's Twin Martial Souls shortly after meeting him. His accurate deductions overcame Tang San's initial suspicion, leading Tang San to formally become his disciple; Zhang Yang immediately asked to join him as well. 7

At Nuoding Academy, Master lived in a simple top-floor room dominated by bookshelves. He examined Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer, warned him not to attach a Soul Ring to it, and studied Zhang Yang's unprecedented humanoid beast Martial Soul. He concluded that Zhang Yang's Yellow Ape possessed the traits of a Beast Martial Soul while being capable of manifesting separately like a Tool Martial Soul. 8

He personally led Tang San and Zhang Yang into the Soul Hunting Forest for their first Soul Rings. Master taught them Soul Beast identification, Soul Ring selection, combat roles, and the importance of patience; he designated Zhang Yang as an Assault Type Battle Soul Master and planned his development around close combat. 9

After arriving at Shrek Academy, Master resumed direct instruction of Zhang Yang and Tang San. He devised intensive combat drills for the Shrek students, deliberately restricting Zhang Yang from using Soul Ring skills so that he would develop his possessed physique and Navy Six Styles instead. 29 30

Master later advanced to Level 31 in Sunset Forest. During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, he departed to seek advice from his first love regarding Twin Martial Souls and Soul Rings, and publicly revealed himself to be an Elder of Martial Soul Hall. 54 65 67

Personality

Master is scholarly, analytical, and methodical. He approaches unfamiliar Martial Souls and Soul Skills as problems to be studied, carefully evaluating their traits, possible origins, and long-term development rather than making assumptions from their outward appearance. 8 9 23

He is also protective of his disciples. He placed himself between Zhang Yang and Sword Douluo Chen Xin despite the overwhelming difference in their strength, identifying Zhang Yang as his disciple without hesitation. 43

Although cautious when facing dangerous Soul Ring choices, Master accepts that Soul Masters must sometimes take calculated risks. His eventual decision to trust Tang San and Zhang Yang's plan against the Mandala Snake reflected his own experience of pursuing strength at the edge of life and death. 11
