Dragon God's Gift
It looked like the worship ceremony was about to begin.
"Can I take part too?"
Bi Fan hesitated a little. After all, he was an outsider, not a villager.
"Of course. The Dragon God cares for all under heaven. He certainly won't mind."
Bi Fan had actually wanted to ask whether the villagers might mind. He could feel that quite a few of them looked at him with hostility, but seeing how expectantly Gu Xu gazed at him, he couldn't bring himself to spoil the mood.
It could be said that Gu Xu had saved his life. Given his condition at the time, if Gu Xu hadn't dragged him away, he might have perished in the Beast Tide.
After a brief moment of thought, Bi Fan nodded in agreement.
Gu Xu was delighted.
Following Gu Xu, he arrived at Dragon God Square. At the very front of the square stood an elderly man with graying hair and a goatee. He was clearly advanced in years, wore a coat made of animal hide, and stooped as he stood. When the elder saw Bi Fan, a ripple passed through his deep-set eyes. He nodded slightly to Bi Fan but didn't send him away.
He was the village chief of Da Gu Village. Gu Xu had forgotten his name, and everyone simply called him Grandpa Village Chief.
Seeing that the time had come, the village chief swept out his hand. His booming voice rang out.
"Thank you, Dragon God, for protecting Da Gu Village! Today we offer the blood and flesh of evil beasts. May the Dragon God enjoy this feast!"
When he finished speaking, the village chief raised both hands over his head and bowed reverently.
As soon as the village chief's words fell, all the villagers around them
