Lord Dragon God
Mighty and imposing. That was Bi Fan's first impression of the dragon-shaped statue.
The dragon's shape was somewhat like every member of the Dragon Clan Bi Fan had ever seen, yet also unlike them. Though it was only a statue, it exuded an inexplicable presence.
Just looking at the statue eased the unease in Bi Fan's heart and gave him a little more sense of security.
It was a strange feeling.
Bi Fan's eyes flickered slightly. His experience told him that this statue was no ordinary thing.
"Feels wonderful, doesn't it? This is the grace of Lord Dragon God!"
Bi Fan turned and saw the fervor and pride in Xiao Xu's eyes as he gazed at the statue.
"Lord Dragon God?" Bi Fan wondered to himself.
In some small worlds, people had their own spiritual beliefs, whether a Spirit of Sacrifice, a Totem, or some imaginary deity. This dragon-shaped statue seemed to belong to that last category.
Seeing Bi Fan lost in thought, Xiao Xu assumed he had been awed by Lord Dragon God. Pride shone even brighter on his face. He took Bi Fan by the hand and led him down the stairs toward the square. "Come on, let's go pay our respects to Lord Dragon God."
Bi Fan didn't refuse. He let Xiao Xu lead him toward the center of the square.
As they neared the square, Bi Fan saw many people dressed in animal skins facing the Dragon God statue with their hands pressed together, eyes closed as they murmured prayers.
Some also bowed down in worship, their expressions solemn.
Most of them were the elderly, the weak, women, and children. Those who spotted Bi Fan watched him with curiosity and caution.
"Are you from one of the towns outside? What brings you here?"
