A strange sound rang out. The sword force clashed with the wisps of black mist, snapping them one by one.
Jia Gu Luo watched with a cold gaze as the sword force, barely slowed by the obstruction, continued to descend upon him. It was too fast—even faster than he was. There was no way to dodge it.
He reversed the hand he had thrust out. The black mist instantly swelled and condensed, transforming into a black pillar that shot upward to meet the descending sword force.

The black pillar and the sword force collided, ringing out like metal striking metal.
The sound waves spread outward, laying waste to the surroundings. Even the bamboo hut in the distance was shattered by the invisible waves.
Jia Gu Luo stood on the ground, his right hand raised high to shield him. The black mist on his hand had dimmed. Before him, stretching far behind him, the ground had split into a bottomless chasm that extended all the way to the horizon.
