Sneaking After Him
The three followed the direction the old man had pointed them in and soon reached their destination without a hitch.
Just as the old man had said, it could hardly be called an inn. Though the grounds were fairly large, the entire left side had already collapsed. A thick layer of yellow sand covered it, and it was easy to tell that no guests had stayed here for at least several years.
The other side of the building could barely still offer shelter from the wind and rain, but after years without maintenance, it had fallen into a state of disrepair.
Ling Xiaoxiao couldn't help smiling wryly. "Maybe the owner got tired of the place falling apart and couldn't be bothered to rebuild it, so he just went out wandering?"
Fox Immortal smiled with her lips pressed together but said nothing. Bi Fan said, "Let's go in and look around first. Since Mysterious Turtle Ancestor said he'd give me a fortuitous opportunity, it must be a great gift. There can't be many things that catch his eye."
They didn't linger. Knowing no one was inside, they pushed the door open and entered.
To their surprise, the scene that greeted them wasn't filthy or rundown. The tables, chairs, and stools were arranged neatly, and even seemed to have been wiped clean. It looked as though someone had carefully tidied the place.
The three of them were stunned. Bi Fan furrowed his brow, feeling that this place wasn't as simple as he'd imagined. Just as he was puzzling over it, Ling Xiaoxiao let out a soft "Huh?"
He turned around and asked, "What is it?"
Ling Xiaoxiao narrowed her lively eyes and sensed carefully. Then she looked at him and said seriously, "There's someone below us."
