She was a girl who looked about ten years old, slender and beautiful. Her long golden hair was tied in a ponytail that swayed gently, and beneath her bangs were a pair of clear, bright eyes.
"Hello, Uncle Su." Mu Xi carried herself with perfect etiquette, then curiously looked over the boy beside Su Wuyan.
With Su Qiu's current adorable appearance, he was simply irresistible to people of all ages and genders. Especially that stray lock of hair atop his head, swaying back and forth and making Mu Xi's heart itch to reach out.
After his Martial Soul awakened, that stray lock had sprung up from Su Qiu's head. He had not looked in a mirror yet, so he did not know. Su Wuyan simply could not be bothered with such a trivial matter.
"Xiao Qiu came too?"
Mu Chen looked up, and the impatience on his face abruptly vanished, replaced by a beaming smile. Cute children were always likable.
He suddenly remembered that today was Awakening Day. Su Qiu must have come over right after awakening his Martial Soul.
Perfect. He could see what Xiao Qiu's physical talent was like. If one wanted to learn blacksmithing well, strength was of utmost importance.
"Xiao Qiu wants to learn blacksmithing? Come with Uncle. Let's go to the Forge Room for a little test."
Ignoring Su Wuyan in front of him as though he did not exist, Mu Chen grabbed Su Qiu and headed out toward a Forge Room.
"Tch." Su Wuyan curled his lip and turned to follow.
Curiosity also filled Mu Xi's beautiful eyes as she ran after them on her little legs.
Along the way.
A trace of regret flashed through Mu Chen's mind. Seeing Su Qiu again reminded him of that dazzling couple. With their peak talent and a Martial Soul Fusion Skill to support each other, they had almost certainly been destined to become Limit Douluos. What a pity.
Upon entering the Forge Room, Mu Chen casually picked up a Forging Hammer weighing around a hundred pounds and handed it to Su Qiu. "Xiao Qiu, give it a try," he said gently.
"I've already tested Xiao Qiu's physical fitness and strength. They're about..." Su Wuyan said impatiently.
"Did I ask you?" Mu Chen shot him a glare and snapped without the slightest courtesy, "Do you understand blacksmithing, or do I understand blacksmithing?" And now this slacker was trying to point fingers.
Mu Chen did not say the latter half aloud. He was afraid the other man would lose his temper.
Su Wuyan snorted and, unusually, did not retort. Since this was for Xiao Qiu's sake, he would let it slide for now.
Su Qiu easily lifted the Forging Hammer. A hundred pounds was effortless to him, and he casually swung it a few times as though he held nothing at all.
"Not bad." Mu Chen was somewhat surprised. This child's strength was at least a thousand pounds. He was only six, and he had just awakened his Martial Soul.
He took out a piece of the Rare Metal Deep Silver and placed it on the forging table.
"Try hammering the metal with the hammer in your hand."
"Uncle Mu, I don't know how to forge." Su Qiu hesitated. Testing his strength was fine, but he knew absolutely nothing about hammering metal.
"It's fine. Just strike it a few times however you like."
As a Level 8 Saint Craftsman, Mu Chen could more or less tell someone's talent from the first time they touched a hammer.
Of course, testing talent this way was far too arbitrary, but with his discerning eye, he could still see many things.
Bang!
Su Qiu swung the hammer down hard, and a booming metallic clang echoed through the room.
Bang, bang, bang...
One strike after another, his movements were direct and powerful, without any unloading of force or technique in exerting strength. Su Qiu merely vented his immense power onto the metal in a disorderly fashion.
With every metallic boom, Mu Chen's brow furrowed a little deeper.
Mu Xi, watching from the side, could not help covering her mouth and giggling. Having successfully achieved Hundred Forging for the first time today, she was in an excellent mood. Seeing this ugly display of hammering filled her with a sense of superiority. She had completely forgotten that this was his first time forging, and that he was using a hundred-pound Forging Hammer.
Mu Chen parted his lips slightly, ready to call for him to stop. He had already seen enough.
Bang—
The sound of the metal suddenly changed.
Huh?
Something was wrong!
The chaotic metallic booms abruptly transformed.
The crisp, dense sounds were pleasing to the ear in both rhythm and frequency.
It was as though music was being played.
At some point, Su Qiu's eyes had gone vacant, his mind completely emptied. He seemed to have entered a wondrous state, surrendering his body entirely to his sixth sense as he struck the metal over and over.
The angle and force of every hammer blow were practically perfect.
Bang!
As the final hammer fell.
Hundred Forging was complete!
The Forge Room fell silent.
"Xiao Qiu, how did you do that?!" Mu Chen stepped forward, grabbed Su Qiu by the shoulders, and shook him excitedly. That was Hundred Forging Deep Silver! Even the standard for a Second-level Blacksmith was no more than this. Not to mention that this was his first time forging!
Even Su Wuyan understood how astounding this was.
"I-I just followed my feelings and hammered it however I wanted. It just turned out like this."
Su Qiu felt a little guilty. His Hundred Forging had actually involved a great deal of cheating, relying entirely on Intuition.
He had only realized it midway through forging. The Holy Sword seemed not only to have modified his Soul Skills, but also to have granted him the ability of Intuition.
Intuition was the ability to instantly determine the action most suitable for oneself in battle, even reaching the realm of predicting the future.
And his Intuition was even more special. It could actually be used in forging. Relying on nothing but his pure sixth sense, he had naturally completed Hundred Forging.
Simply put.
He had activated a cheat.
Being a Holy Sword Wielder really was easy. The Holy Sword had practically spoon-fed him.
"I wouldn't be able to do it again."
That was a lie.
Although Su Qiu did not understand why, with Intuition, no matter how many times he tried again, he could replicate this Hundred Forging.
"Even so, that's already absurd." Mu Chen's eyes burned with excitement. His disciple had the potential to become a Divine Craftsman!
He had completed Hundred Forging by feeling alone on his very first attempt at forging. Mu Chen was completely confident that he could nurture Su Qiu into a Divine Craftsman.
"Uncle Mu..."
"What Uncle Mu? Call me Teacher!"
"Uh, Teacher, why don't you look over there first?" Su Qiu tilted his head.
Mu Chen followed Su Qiu's gaze. A girl stood there, and only then did he realize that his daughter was here too.
Mu Xi, who had been grinning moments ago, could no longer smile. Her eyes were red, her teeth clenched tight, and tears swirled in her pupils.
Clearly, Mu Xi had been completely crushed.
The girl's heart was filled with defiance.
Why?
Because she was a girl, her father had never supported her choice to become a blacksmith. But Mu Xi had begun swinging a specially made little iron hammer to practice forging at the age of five, and only after persisting for two years had she moved her father.
Three years later, she had successfully achieved Hundred Forging. Next, she only needed to slowly practice with other metals to become a First-level Blacksmith.
No one knew how much sweat she had shed over the past few years.
But why, why did someone not need to work hard, yet easily surpass her on his very first attempt at forging?
And he had completed Hundred Forging using Deep Silver. That was a height utterly beyond her reach right now.
"Dad..."
With her resolve shattered, Mu Xi choked out a sob and suddenly threw herself into Mu Chen's arms, burying her face as she cried.
"Sigh." Patting his daughter's back, Mu Chen had a terrible headache as he racked his brains over how to comfort her.
Su Qiu, standing nearby, felt no ripples in his heart. He even kind of wanted to laugh.
It was only a competitive child being struck by a genius. It was not a big deal.
Besides, Su Qiu had not expected himself to be such a genius either.
There was nothing he could do about it. If she had anything to say, she could go talk to his Intuition!
