Xu Zhishen had done the math. At the current stock price, the shares he owned, together with the properties in his name, were just enough to repay the financial institutions.
By this point, if Xu Zhishen still didn't realize he'd been set up, then he'd wasted all those years in business.
So after selling Yuanda Construction, Xu Zhishen didn't plan to repay the money right away.
He knew that at his age, starting over from scratch was basically impossible.
That was why, when he sold Yuanda, Xu Zhishen had demanded that the buyer transfer the money into Lu Tao's account!
What he hadn't expected was that the acquisition team handling the purchase of Yuanda had been formed by Wang Yue's Future Construction. Manager Ding at Yuanda knew this perfectly well, but Xu Zhishen, focused on dealing with the financial institutions, had no idea.
So Future Construction hadn't transferred the money to Lu Tao's account. Instead, it had deposited the funds into Yuanda's account.
Yuanda's account had already been frozen. Any money deposited there could no longer be transferred out.
Xu Zhishen still didn't know any of this. When he learned from Manager Ding that the money from the sale of Yuanda's two projects had been deposited into the account, he hurriedly called Lu Tao.
Lu Tao understood why Xu Zhishen had done it, and he was deeply opposed to the idea. Furious, he said,
"Xu Zhishen, if the business lost money, then it lost money. Why did you transfer it to my account? Do you think that means you won't have to repay what you borrowed from the financial institutions?"
Xu Zhishen sighed. "Lu Tao, you don't understand how finance works. My shares will recover sooner or later, and the financial institutions won't lose out either.
