Background / History

Tang San is identified as the Child of Destiny, whose extraordinary fortune repeatedly frustrates efforts to kill or contain him. The Asura God intervenes directly when he suffers fatal injuries, healing him and enabling his escape from an encirclement by eight Titled Douluo 10. Qian Renxue concludes that ordinary schemes against him become opportunities for his growth because destiny itself protects him 10 13.

As a Shrek Academy student and Yu Xiaogang's disciple, Tang San treats his teacher's theories and reputation as inviolable. He prepares to attack when Yu Xiaogang is insulted at Jixia Academy and defends Ma Hongjun's harassment of Gongsun Li as an attempt to seek justice for their teacher 15 16. His reliance on Shrek's double standard becomes a point of direct conflict with Lu Ming 50.

Jixia Academy repeatedly defeats and humiliates him. Sikong Zhen melts Tang San's hidden weapons with a lightning magnetic field and forces him to kneel by shattering his kneecaps 51. Gongsun Li later counters his poisoned projectiles, Clear Sky Hammer, and Chaotic Cape attack before breaking his leg and forcing him to kneel again during Shrek's tournament loss 59 60.

After witnessing Lu Ming kill Tang Hao, Tang San suffers a psychological collapse. He dismisses both Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer as useless before resolving to seek power and revenge through Sea God Island's trials 72 73. There, he accepts the competing powers of the Sea God and Asura God without reservation, ultimately sacrificing his emotions in exchange for strength 74 76.

Tang San returns to the mainland with the transformed Shrek Seven Devils and attacks Vast Sea City and Jixia Academy. Despite wielding dual divine powers and artifacts, he is effortlessly defeated by Lu Ming, who crushes his soul and confiscates both divine weapons 76 77 78.

Appearance

Before his divine transformation, Tang San has deep-blue hair and uses a restrained, refined outward demeanor. His body and appearance change drastically after accepting the Sea God and Asura God's powers 68 74 76.

  • Dark red armor manifests during the initial dual-power fusion 74.
  • His blue hair develops blood-red tips after the Sea God's Nine Trials begin 74.
  • His forehead bears overlapping trident and blood-red sword marks, representing the Sea God and Asura God 74.
  • Following full transformation, his hair becomes waist-length dark red and his armor dark gold with lava-like patterns 76.
  • His left eye becomes black and his right eye blood-red, with no visible white remaining 76.

Personality

Tang San is fiercely proud of his Tang Sect background, Twin Martial Souls, hidden weapons, and personal dignity. He repeatedly refuses to kneel even when physically incapable of standing, and his humiliation at Jixia Academy becomes the central source of his hatred for Lu Ming and Gongsun Li 51 60 61.

He is initially devoted to his companions and protective of Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai, and the other Shrek students. He confronts Lu Ming after Ma Hongjun and Dai Mubai are injured, and becomes enraged when Xiao Wu is badly wounded 50 59. However, his loyalty is conditional: he places protecting his own above the actions that caused the conflict, stating that Ma Hongjun remains his brother regardless of what he did 50.

Following Tang Hao's death and his divine transformation, Tang San becomes cold, vengeful, and power-obsessed. He willingly gives up his emotions to gain the strength to defeat Lu Ming, reducing his former companions to servants and enforcers rather than equals 73 76.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, though he later loses confidence in both after witnessing Jixia Academy's overwhelming power 59 73.

  • Blue Silver Grass — used for binding through his first soul skill, Entangle 69.
  • Clear Sky Hammer — his high-force tool Martial Soul and Tang Hao's legacy 59 73.
  • He can force the hammer's use without attached Spirit Rings, but doing so rapidly consumes his spirit power 59.
  • He employs Chaotic Cape by burning vitality and repeatedly swinging the hammer at escalating force 60.

Tang Sect Secret Arts

Tang San retains techniques from his previous life as a Tang Sect disciple, including movement arts, internal cultivation, and concealed weapons 51 59.

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — evasive footwork that creates afterimages and lets him weave through linear projectile fire 51 69.
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — internal technique used to drive his body and weapon attacks beyond normal limits 51 60.
  • Purple Demon Eye — vision technique capable of tracking extreme-speed movement, though it can only perceive Lan's attack as an afterimage 25.
  • Hidden weapons — uses Bone-Piercing Nails, Willow Leaf Blades, Flying Locust Stones, and poisoned Dragon Whisker Needles 51 59 69.
  • His hidden weapons prove ineffective against Sikong Zhen's lightning magnetic field and are deflected back by Gongsun Li's umbrella techniques 51 59.

Slaughter God's Domain

Tang San possesses killing intent refined in Slaughter City 73.

  • His unleashed killing intent freezes the nearby sea and intimidates a Sea Soul Master into guiding Shrek to Sea God Island's trials 73.
  • The Asura God's power later amplifies his murderous aura into a destructive divine presence 74 76.

Sea God and Asura Divine Power

Tang San becomes the shared vessel of the Sea God and Asura God after accepting both powers for the sake of revenge 74 76.

  • His dual divine power fuses into dark-gold energy and transforms his body 74.
  • He gains extreme movement speed, appearing at the foot of Sea God Mountain without leaving an afterimage 76.
  • He kills several Soul King guards with a casual swing of the Asura Demon Sword, reducing them to blood-red powder 76.
  • He can channel divine power into others, forcibly altering Ma Hongjun's Phoenix into a Fallen Demon Phoenix and changing the other Shrek members' Martial Souls 76.
  • His final technique, Asura · Twilight of the Sea God, combines Sea God and Asura power into a massive sword strike that locks onto space and causality 78.
  • His divine powers and dual-god phantom collapse after Lu Ming crushes his soul 78.
