Background

Tang Ya is the last survivor of the Tang Sect after the Iron Blood Sect destroyed it and killed her parents. She escaped to the Clear Sky Sect near Heaven Dou City, seeking aid due to its historic connection with the Tang Sect, but was refused because the sect had withdrawn from worldly affairs. 23

While fleeing through the forest, she mistakes Lin Ran for an Iron Blood Sect pursuer and threatens him with a Zhuge Repeating Crossbow. Lin Ran disarms her but returns the weapon rather than harming her. Moved by his kindness after being abandoned by the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Ya chooses to travel with him toward Shrek City. 23

At Shrek Academy, Tang Ya petitions for help avenging the Tang Sect. The academy refuses, citing institutional neutrality; the rejection leaves her devastated despite her attempt to prepare herself for it. 24 26 She also rejects Bei Bei’s request to join the Tang Sect because he comes from Shrek Academy. 27

With assistance from Lin Ran and Vina, Tang Ya eventually avenges her parents and recovers the Tang Sect residence. This gives her closure and restores much of her usual cheerfulness. 42 53

Afterward, she initially decides not to rebuild the Tang Sect, believing its destruction should remain in the past and choosing a new life beyond its legacy. 69 By the later era, however, she is recognized as the current Tang Sect sect master and publicly defends the sect’s authority against the reincarnated Tang San. 389
