Background

Tang San arrived at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy with Old Jack, the village chief of Holy Soul Village. Though dressed plainly, he displayed unusual composure and defeated the academy gatekeeper after the man tried to assault Old Jack. Yu Xiaogang recognized his Innate Full Soul Power and deduced that his Blue Silver Grass concealed a second Martial Soul; Tang San then bowed to accept Yu as his master. 1

Under Yu Xiaogang's direction, Tang San pursued a control-oriented cultivation path for his Blue Silver Grass. His first two Soul Rings came from a 400-year Mandala Snake and a 600-year Ghost Vine, while he learned to use his storage belt and hidden weapons in combat. 3 5

After graduating from Nuoding, Tang San entered Shrek Academy alongside Xiao Wu at Yu Xiaogang's recommendation. He later obtained the Man Faced Demon Spider's third Soul Ring and External Soul Bone, then became a central member of the Shrek Seven Devils. 6 7 8

Tang San's appearance changes markedly over the course of the story. At Nuoding, he is a slight boy in simple blue clothing; after five years away from Shrek, he returns as a slender, handsome young man with blue hair and a reserved, weathered presence. 4 80
