Background / History
Early life and Yu Xiaogang’s disciple
Hei Tang San grows up in Sacred Soul Village under the care of his alcoholic father, Tang Hao. He silently cleans their blacksmith shop, cooks porridge, and tends to Tang Hao with obedience and filial devotion, suppressing his own frustration and ambition. 3
At his Martial Soul awakening, he manifests Blue Silver Grass and is told that it has no offensive or defensive value. Rather than challenge that judgment, he consoles himself with his Tang Sect hidden-weapon techniques. 4
At Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, Yu Xiaogang recognizes his Twin Martial Souls. Overwhelmed by the discovery, Hei Tang San immediately kneels and accepts Yu as his teacher, forming a master-disciple bond built on admiration and trust. 5 During their first Soul Hunt, he refuses to abandon Yu Xiaogang when the latter is incapacitated by a four-hundred-year Datura Snake, risking his life to defend him. 10
Comparison-induced doubt
The Dual Parallel World Comparison System repeatedly contrasts Hei Tang San with Bai Tang San, his White World counterpart. Hei witnesses Bai’s independent cultivation, financial success, ruthless planning, and superior Blue Silver Grass development, producing jealousy, shame, and an escalating crisis of faith. 4 42
Yu Xiaogang attempts to imitate Bai Tang San’s autonomous Blue Silver Grass cultivation by ordering Hei to sleep while leaving his Martial Soul outside in the sun. The attempt drains Hei Tang San’s Soul Power and mental strength instead of improving his cultivation. 34
After the Sky Curtain declares Bai Tang San the superior parallel self, Hei confronts Yu Xiaogang over his slow progress and the limits of the Master’s theories. He resolves to forge his own path and pursue victory “at any cost,” though he continues to defend Yu publicly even while resentment grows internally. 43 111
Shrek, ancestry, and divine war
At level 29, Hei Tang San travels to Suotuo City with Xiao Wu and enters Shrek Academy’s orbit. He defeats Dai Mubai in a dispute over a room, though the victory does little to ease his feeling of powerlessness. 47
He later reveals the Clear Sky Hammer while defeating Feng Xiaotian, exposing both his Twin Martial Souls and his connection to the Clear Sky Sect. The revelation places him under greater political danger from Spirit Hall. 115 He returns to the Clear Sky Sect to acknowledge his ancestry, accepting the sect elders’ harsh conditions. 144
His pursuit of strength becomes increasingly violent. At the entrance to the City of Slaughter, he kills a group of attackers with the Clear Sky Hammer and drinks the Bloody Mary offered by the bartender. 138 He eventually awakens the Blue Silver Emperor, inherits Sea God power, and fights on the front lines of the war against Spirit Hall. 137 154
In the final god-level battle, Hei Tang San struggles against the combined attacks of Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue. His Sea God inheritance proves insufficient against two divine opponents, and the power sustaining his godhood is ultimately severed. 156 159
Appearance
Following his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Hei Tang San’s appearance changes dramatically. 137
- Azure hair grows to his ankles, smooth and glossy like a waterfall.
- His formerly ordinary features become refined and delicate.
- His skin becomes pale, clear, and jade-like.
- Years of blacksmithing calluses disappear from his hands.
- As the Sea God, he wears azure divine armor and bears the Sea God mark on his forehead. 154
Personality
Hei Tang San is initially obedient, filial, and deeply attached to authority. He follows Tang Sect rules rigidly, cares for Tang Hao despite his neglect, and treats Yu Xiaogang’s approval as a debt he must repay. 3 5 12
He is also courageous under pressure. He stays behind to shield Yu Xiaogang from the Datura Snake, fights Tailong through superior footwork and redirection rather than brute strength, and repeatedly places himself between danger and his companions. 10 87
The comparison with Bai Tang San gradually exposes his insecurity. Hei envies Bai’s power, wealth, influence, and confidence, while struggling to accept that his own diligence has not produced the same results. 42 79 86 His frustration eventually turns into disillusionment with Yu Xiaogang and a willingness to pursue power through increasingly extreme means. 43 138
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass / Blue Silver Emperor
Hei Tang San begins with conventional Blue Silver Grass focused on binding and battlefield control. Its early development is assessed as low, with a normal Entangle form. 42
- Uses Blue Silver Grass to obstruct enemies and control the pace of team battles. 36
- Gains an Entangle-type second Soul Skill associated with Yu Xiaogang’s selected Soul Ring. 46
- Awakens the Blue Silver Emperor through contact with the Blue Silver King and the continent’s plant life. 137
- Initially lacks Bai Tang San’s ability to develop Blue Silver Grass into poison-, fire-, or ice-based destructive techniques. 45
Twin Martial Souls — Clear Sky Hammer
Hei Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as his second Martial Soul. Yu Xiaogang’s recognition of this trait is what convinces Hei to accept him as master. 5
- Uses the Clear Sky Hammer to defeat Feng Xiaotian and reveal his Clear Sky Sect heritage. 115
- Uses its overwhelming weight and destructive force during his massacre at the City of Slaughter’s entrance. 138
- Employs it alongside Sea God power during the war against Spirit Hall. 154
