A few days later...
Stark kept running experiments, trying to translate the Cthulhu whispers recorded in the Evil God's Record.
Yet every attempt ended in failure, leaving Stark deep in thought, unable to understand where he had gone wrong.
However, Stark's actions also proved to everyone that his armor could indeed withstand Cthulhu's corruption.
Hope ignited in everyone's hearts once more. Perhaps they could reverse the future and find a way to defeat the Evil God.
As Lu Changsheng had said, Cthulhu's seal was about to be lifted, and the seawater would swallow the continent, bringing everyone their final death. Under the Premier's organization, the surviving people of the Empire began feverishly constructing underwater survival systems and defense systems.
They planned to first gather every usable resource nearby, consolidate all available resources, and use every ounce of strength to protect the continent.
If they truly could not hold out, then they would sink beneath the sea and activate the base's underwater survival mode.
They would also send out several spacecraft and ships to scatter the last embers of civilization, making preparations on multiple fronts.
Under the pressure of death, coupled with the fact that those who had survived were already the Empire's elite, their efficiency was extraordinarily high.
It was Stark's first time facing such a powerful species from another world, and his mind probably had not quite caught up yet.
With Lu Changsheng's help, Stark suddenly had an epiphany. He finally understood why he had always failed to translate Cthulhu's whispers.
Having figured out where his misunderstanding lay, Stark began experimenting again.
During this time, Daigo ate and drank well, showing signs of developing into Old Man Diga.
Before long, Stark had built the Cthulhu Language Translator.
"Can this translate the Cthulhu whispers inside the Evil God's Record?" the Premier asked, hunched over.
"Yes. It may be small, but it cost me a great deal of effort," Stark said with a shrug. "But it has one minor flaw: it can only translate. It can't block the harm Cthulhu's whispers cause you."
"The translated output is still harmful?" the Premier asked.
"No. The machine's translation isn't harmful. It's just that playing the record itself will hurt you." Stark clapped his hands.
"Then that's no problem. We just need to soundproof the record's sound and only listen to the translator's output," the Premier said.
"Begin," Lu Changsheng said.
Stark nodded and switched on the translator and the record.
The first thing that reached their ears was a burst of static, sharp enough to feel as though it might pierce their eardrums. Then came Cthulhu's whispers.
Quite a few people present shuddered.
"...Huff... huff... slurp~ huff..."
The translator vibrated and displayed its translation of the contents within the Evil God's Record.
After waiting for about ten seconds, there was another burst of static, and then it ended.
"That's it? What does that even mean?" Big Beard was thoroughly confused.
"It sounds like someone eating," the Premier said, narrowing his eyes.
"Interesting. Just a sound of someone eating, and you people died in such numbers because of it?" Stark said with his arms folded.
"The Empire's former First General died beneath this record," the Premier said slowly.
"Uh..." Daigo said.
"The translator is complete, and the protective measures are ready. Cthulhu is about to awaken. Go make your preparations," Lu Changsheng said.
The Premier glanced at Lu Changsheng, nodded, and said, "Activate the highest alert. Everyone, stand ready. Install this Cthulhu Language Translator."
The moment he finished speaking, the personnel throughout the base sprang into action.
Stark moved closer to Lu Changsheng and whispered, "True Monarch, are you going to lift the seal on that octopus head?"
"Yes. Everything that needs to be prepared is prepared," Lu Changsheng said.
Daigo sighed. "I hope they can survive this disaster."
The entire base instantly entered its defensive state, and every contingency plan was activated as well.
The Premier stood atop a high tower, gazing at the azure barrier in the distance. His eyes were filled with deep concern. If things truly unfolded as Lu Changsheng had said, then they were in serious trouble.
How he wished that what Lu Changsheng had said would not come to pass.
But unsealing Cthulhu was precisely the purpose of the Chat Group members' visit.
R'lyeh City floated in midair.
Lu Changsheng's Cthulhu Xing Yi Quan had thoroughly shocked Cthulhu himself.
"You... actually possess such an ability?" In his surprise, Cthulhu had even forgotten about being unsealed.
"Just a little trick," Lu Changsheng said. He had not expected that merely observing Cthulhu would allow him to grasp a form of Xing Yi Quan that looked like physical combat but actually stacked buffs with every move.
"Next, I'll help you break the seal." The information between Lu Changsheng's two bodies had always remained synchronized.
He already knew that the human base had entered a defensive state. It was time to unseal Cthulhu.
"Good," Cthulhu said.
Lu Changsheng's hair whipped wildly in the wind, his sacred aura vast and mighty. Raising a hand, he unleashed a supreme spell that enveloped all of R'lyeh City.
The seal imprisoning Cthulhu was rather novel.
Lu Changsheng's eyes traced out the ritual of the seal, then he performed it again in reverse within his eyes.
He aimed his index finger at Cthulhu, lightly tapped forward, and said, "Release!"
The seal rippled like a tranquil mirror disturbed by a stone. Wave after wave of ripples spread out, like final tremors before it gradually cracked apart.
Cthulhu could feel the seal that restrained his power gradually weakening.
White Mist spread across the sea, and Cthulhu's enormous figure became increasingly solid.
Though it was only in this one place, it seemed to be projected across the entire world.
Every remaining living creature could see Cthulhu breaking free.
It was a nightmare-like terror that made their hearts pound wildly.
After transmigrating to the Cultivation World, Lin Yusheng gained a Golden Finger that made him stronger whenever his junior sisters caused trouble.
"Causing trouble? That's easy!"
A protagonist's setup: his entire family dead, his whole sect wiped out!
"The world slanders and condemns me in countless ways. I suffered all the injustice of this world. I was destined for a life of hardship, accompanied by slaughter. Yet Senior Brother alone bore everything for me. Since Senior Brother treats me so well, I will never forget it for the rest of my life!"
"I possessed the Primordial Forbidden Body and was rejected by the Great Dao of this world. Anyone who stayed by my side was destined to meet a bad end. With the entire world as my enemy, it was Senior Brother who shielded me from everything. I will remember this kindness for the rest of my life!"
"I am the reincarnation of the Empress of the Immortal Domain Divine Dynasty. I fought throughout my life and made countless enemies. Yet when Senior Brother was still weak, he stood before me and said, 'Whatever it is, come at me.' From that moment on, I decided to sweep away every enemy for him!"
Lin Yusheng: Anything is negotiable, but can you stop getting there before me?!
