Background

Xiao You spent her earliest remembered life alone in a Domain Field, accompanied only by a scarred skeleton wearing a straw hat. After Specter-like beings entered the area, they imprisoned her beside an altar and repeatedly extracted the energy within her body. She retained the straw hat as her only meaningful possession. 472

In a later timeline, Feng Qi finds her before the Specter-like beings arrive. A damaged recording crystal in the skeleton reveals that she is the only descendant of the Nether Race High Priest lineage. The Nether Race had suffered attacks from overwhelmingly powerful foreign forces before entering the Human world, but the incomplete record does not explain the race's final destruction. Feng Qi destroys the recording so that Xiao You will not inherit its racial blood feud. 553

Feng Qi later destroys the energy building holding Xiao You as a sacrifice and rescues her from its ruins. Over six months living beside a waterfall, he teaches her Human language and basic knowledge, gives her the name Xiao You, and has her call him “Boss.” 472

Her inherited knowledge gradually unseals as her condition improves. What initially appears to be simple green energy proves to be an extraordinarily adaptable weaving medium capable of forming clothing, weapons, defensive gear, flight devices, and other complex constructs. 472
