Background / History

The Ōtsutsuki are born on the Ōtsutsuki Homeworld, a barren planet sustained by the clan’s continued investment of power. Each new birth depletes the Homeworld’s energy; Momoshiki was reportedly the last Ōtsutsuki born before its energy became exhausted. The clan is intensely protective of this world and treats betrayal as a crime warranting pursuit by every Ōtsutsuki. 202 313

Their expansion depends on extracting power from other worlds. They plant Divine Trees to drain a planet’s energy and condense it into Chakra Fruits, which can elevate an eater’s life level. The clan also possesses the Alchemy Technique, allowing sufficiently powerful users to refine lifeforms—including other Ōtsutsuki—into Chakra Fruits directly. 99 106 217 220

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki betrayed the clan after arriving in the Ninja World, fearing the consequences of the clan’s planetary harvesting practices. Her defection made the Ninja World a target for investigation and eventual extermination. 99 202 228

Momoshiki, Kinshiki, and Urashiki were among the first known pursuers to approach the Ninja World. Momoshiki sought the secret behind Kaguya’s betrayal and hoped to achieve further transcendence, while Kinshiki acted as his loyal guard and Urashiki pursued his own share of the potential reward. 99 220

After Uchiha Siming killed Kinshiki and Momoshiki and helped the Land of God produce more than twenty Tenseigan-wielding Six Paths-level fighters, Ōtsutsuki Siming issued a universal extermination order and distributed the Ninja World’s coordinates to the clan. 228

Later Ōtsutsuki arrivals fractured into infighting over Chakra Fruits. Raishiki, Kushiki, Kuroshiki, and other clansmen repeatedly prioritized personal evolution over cooperation, attacking or attempting to consume one another when power was at stake. 330 332 337 338

Uchiha Siming eventually entered the Ōtsutsuki Homeworld, defeated Ōtsutsuki Siming, and absorbed Shibai Ōtsutsuki’s clone, gaining the Authority of Omnipotence. 351 352 355
