Dawn watched the ripples on the ground, gave Mista a look, and calculated the timing in his heart.
Mista understood, stopped in his tracks, hid his pistol behind him, and held his breath, waiting.
The enemy could lock onto targets at will, likely possessing sight, so it was best to keep a card up his sleeve.
Suddenly, the ripples on the ground became violent. Dawn's heart tightened, he exerted force with his legs, and leaped into the air on the spot.
Hands clad in a tan-colored bodysuit emerged from the ground, reaching out to viciously grab at Dawn in the air.
"Mista!"
Dawn shouted. Mista reacted swiftly, firing several shots behind him. The bullets, however, curved and struck Secco's arm.
Splattered blood landed on Dawn's clothes. Dawn paid it no mind, using the pulling force to stomp a large foot onto Secco's face, causing Secco to cry out in pain.
Secco quickly retreated into the ground, extending his super long tongue and licking his wound like a beast, his eyes filled with malice.
Above ground, Dawn frowned, trying to locate Ghiaccio's possible hiding place.
"The mold's spread is getting wider and wider, which means Ghiaccio must be somewhere high up. Where could it be..."
Dawn looked at the tallest church in the area and immediately commanded Cloud Dragon to attack.
Cloud Dragon's massive body didn't even need to maneuver much. A flick of its tail brought it close to the church, and it opened its mouth, spitting out Notorious Big, which smashed into the church walls.
Ice crystals surged, and the church was instantly consumed, leaving only a small pile of ruins.
"Nothing... where on earth is he?"
Just as Dawn was lost in thought, the surrounding mold slowed its corrosive speed.
"Mr. Dawn, has the main body of the mold been killed?"
Bucciarati drove closer, leaning out of the car window to ask.
He had also noticed the abnormality of the mold.
"No, not yet."
Dawn shook his head and got into the car with Mista. Upon hearing this, Bucciarati immediately started the car and sped towards the mountain road with a stomp on the accelerator.
Just then, Cloud Dragon sent a message.
[There's a severed foot in the church that hasn't been infected by the mold]
A severed foot?
Dawn's eyes widened abruptly.
Not infected by mold, this was important!
Ghiaccio could use his ability to dismember himself, and every part of his body could become an infection source.
In that case, the plane might truly be the cause of the expanded infection. There must have been some of Ghiaccio's body tissues on it.
"We've already left a considerable distance, and the mold's encroachment hasn't stopped."
Bucciarati gritted his teeth and said, "Damn it! If this continues, let alone us, the entire city of Rome will have no survivors!"
The car braked sharply. A large area of ripples suddenly appeared on the ground ahead.
"That persistent bastard is back."
Mista switched his grip on his gun. His dominant hand was already covered in mold and could break off at any moment.
The car suddenly sank as Secco attacked.
"Sticky Fingers!"
Bucciarati punched a zipper open on the car roof, pulling the two of them out.
Secco squinted from underground, his eyes filled with murderous intent. He wanted to inflict the harshest revenge on Bucciarati's team.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!
A piercing sonic boom echoed. The group turned their heads, only to see streaks of fire shooting into the sky from the dim heavens.
Pop pop pop pop pop!!!
The flames exploded, illuminating the varied expressions on the faces of the three.
Parachutes made of fire-retardant material quickly deployed, with objects resembling fingers and toes hanging below, suspended hundreds of meters in the air.
Dawn's face instantly turned grim. In this situation, it was impossible to determine which one was Ghiaccio's body.
As expected, how could Diavolo's Passione organization fight alone? Maximizing resource utilization was the way to go.
While everyone's attention was diverted, Secco launched a surprise attack.
His hands were useless, but he extended his super long tongue, coiling it around the turtle in Bucciarati's hand, intending to drag everyone inside the secret room into the ground!
"Enough is enough, you bastard!"
Just as Secco was about to succeed, Abbacchio's roar came.
Having been a police officer before, he detested scum like Secco who enjoyed recording the struggles of their dying victims.
Abbacchio's fist emerged from the turtle's shell and smashed hard into Secco's nose, causing blood to gush out.
Secco's eyes turned fierce; how dare this guy give him orders.
No one was allowed to order him except Ghiaccio, not even the Boss!
He endured the intense pain, bared his rotten teeth, and bit down hard on Abbacchio's fist, dragging him out of the secret room.
Abbacchio's body was half covered in mold, and he was too weak to resist. In that brief moment, he only had time to glance back at Bucciarati.
Immediately, he fell into the ground along with Secco, leaving behind faint ripples.
"Abbacchio!"
Narancia shouted anxiously in the secret room. Bucciarati looked back, his eyes splitting with rage.
"Sticky Fingers!"
Bucciarati leaped from the car roof, punching through the ground and following Secco's trail.
"Too slow, Bucciarati! Hahahaha, the guy you're trying to save has already been completely corroded by the mold!"
Secco mocked him madly, but something astonishing soon happened.
Bucciarati was completely unaffected by the mold.
An absurd thought surfaced in his mind.
"Bucciarati, you bastard, are you already a dead man?!"
Secco questioned loudly, but Bucciarati ignored him, solely focused on creating zippers and relentlessly chasing Secco.
The injured Secco was quickly caught. He looked back at the grim Bucciarati and finally knew fear.
"Don't kill me, I won't dare again! I really won't dare again!
Here's your companion, I'll return him to you."
Secco trembled as he handed over the tattered remnants of Abbacchio's clothes, not daring to look up at Bucciarati.
Bucciarati gritted his teeth tightly, the sound of them cracking faintly.
He looked up again, his eyes devoid of anger, filled instead with the gaze one reserves for the dead.
"You don't not dare; you just know you're about to die."
Bucciarati placed his hands on Secco's throat, gradually applying pressure until he was choking him tightly.
"Abbacchio!"
Crack!
Lightning suddenly streaked across the sky, followed by a low rumble of thunder.
Dawn ignored the grieving crowd and simply jumped off the car, staring at the ground where Abbacchio had disappeared.
"I clearly changed the plot."
A whistling warm wind blew through the air, and the dim sky was instantly covered in dark clouds.
A drop of warm rain landed on Dawn's face. He wiped it away and looked up at the sky.
"Fate is truly unfathomable."
Dawn murmured to himself. The change in weather made the Cloud Dragon even more delighted as it stretched its body within the thunderclouds, swimming freely.
Although the Cloud Dragon itself didn't have much offensive power, relying mainly on the Notorious Big within its body.
However, when conditions allowed, its destructive power was unimaginably shocking.
Condition 1: Sufficient water vapor
Condition 2: Strong thermal convection
Condition 3: Unstable atmospheric stratification
Affected by an unknown influence, this sudden thunderstorm completely met the requirements.
Dawn looked back at the numerous parachutes in the sky and said with a chilling tone, "Ghiaccio, I will kill you."
