After leaving the forest where Kabuto Yakushi and the others were hiding, Shinji didn't return to Konoha right away. Instead, he stood atop a large tree, unfolded a map, and surveyed the surroundings.
His Blood Clone was in the village, and he could use Red Dragon at any time to switch places with it. With Haku and Karin waiting nearby as well, he could attack or retreat as needed. So he wanted to check the area around Konoha and see whether anyone besides Kabuto and his group was lurking nearby.
For that reason, he didn't break off his Naobi link with Karin.
On the other end of the Naobi link, Karin and Haku were still dressed in their Konoha Military Police Force uniforms. They stood atop a large tree, keeping watch over the surroundings.
Their status as members of the Konoha Military Police Force made it much easier for them to enter and leave Konoha.
Haku asked, "How are things?"
"The lord has left that forest." Karin paused, then continued, "He must have made contact with the people hiding there, but the two sides didn't come to blows."
Haku looked puzzled. "Who would be hiding in a place like that? People from the Dark Dawn?"
Karin shook her head. "I don't know either. The lord didn't tell me."
Just then, Karin's brow furrowed. Her Mind's Eye of the Kagura had sensed a very strange Chakra.
The Chakra came and went, appearing and disappearing without warning.
If Karin hadn't grown more and more proficient in using the Mind's Eye of the Kagura, she might not have noticed it at all.
What unsettled her even more was that the strange Chakra seemed to be approaching the leader.
She immediately used Naobi to tell Shinji about the strange situation.
"Someone's approaching me?"
