"Huh?"
The little fairy Thistle scratched her head, a puzzled look appearing on her face.
"That's strange. I remember it being right here."
As if afraid Gauss would think she had deceived him,
she led her people around most of the camp, trying to find any trace of the goblins.
But no matter how wide the little fairies opened their eyes or how carefully they looked, they couldn't see a single goblin.
Gauss twitched his nostrils slightly.
The goblin scent in the air had grown very faint.
It seemed a group of goblins had once lived here, but they had left some time ago.
"Were they exterminated ahead of time, or killed by some other monsters?" Alya came up beside Gauss and rose onto her toes to peer at the clearing beyond the trees.
"I don't think so." Gauss shook his head. "There are no traces of bloodstains nearby."
His bright green eyes swept over the surroundings.
The ground within sight was its usual color. There were no craters left by a large-scale battle, nor any dark-brown, compacted patches where blood had soaked into the soil.
"It looks like they migrated, or were summoned away."
As Gauss studied the surroundings, he grew more certain that he was getting closer and closer to the target of the commission.
Normally, it was difficult for a goblin settlement of equal or slightly greater size to peacefully absorb another.
If one group had absorbed another without any bloodshed, it could only mean that one side was far stronger than the other.
"Sorry about that." The little fairies flew back with their heads hanging. "We made you come all this way for nothing."
"It's fine." Gauss waved a hand, not bothered, and smiled. "This is important information in its own right."
Compared to killing another
