The remaining few ghouls were quickly dealt with as well.
"Who would've thought they were so ordinary?"
Alya said with a smile.
"I hadn't been an adventurer for long back then."
Gauss said helplessly.
He was human, not a god.
He hadn't been this strong from the very beginning, either.
If they hadn't been facing him, the combination of one level-two monster and several level-one monsters would have been quite terrifying. Many adventurer parties risked being wiped out if they ran into them.
But now, let alone Gauss, even Theron, the party's healer, could deal with them easily.
However, Alya only made the point in passing.
After all, this trip was more like an outing. Since Theron and Albenna had both left the party to train, the Gauss Squad couldn't possibly accept any overly formal commissions.
After cutting off the commission tokens, Gauss and the others left the cave by the same route they had come.
"Whew—"
They returned to the outskirts.
Gauss summoned Hefis.
"Roar."
Perhaps it had sensed something as well, because it let out a low growl in Gauss's direction.
Gauss, meanwhile, focused his attention on the Talent [Rider] he had just acquired.
After Hefis appeared, the strange power within his body became noticeably more active.
Clearly, this Red Dragon Beast, which had spent quite some time with Gauss, met the contract's requirements. This also allowed Gauss, who had been somewhat worried at first, to breathe a sigh of relief.
As he focused his mind on Hefis, he vaguely sensed that he was gradually establishing a strange connection with it.
After several breaths.
One end of that mental link formally settled on Hefis, while the other end rested on Gauss. It was as though an invisible bridge had linked the two together.
"So this is the contract?"
