Gauss could feel the effect of the unassuming metal staff, its entire surface a dark, dull black.
It was incredibly sturdy!
Yes, this was a rather bizarre staff.
Other staffs either enhanced spell power, sped up casting, or increased attack range. This one did none of those things.
All it did was slightly strengthen abjuration spells and boast an exceptionally sturdy build.
It didn't seem very magical.
It was clumsy and heavy, and its only advantage was a certain sturdiness more suited to a melee weapon.
It would be a good fit for a Spellcaster with considerable melee ability, an impressive physique, and the ability to cast spells.
Everyone else sensed the staff's effects and looked toward Gauss in unison.
There were only two Spellcasters present.
Obviously, Lawrence wasn't physically strong enough to use this metal staff, which was nearly six feet long.
Gauss, on the other hand, was a perfect fit. He also happened to be good at abjuration spells. It was almost as if the staff had been custom-made for him.
"Gauss, this staff suits you. Take it," Lawrence said after a moment's thought.
The others exchanged glances.
"Yeah, give it a try."
They all knew who had contributed the most in the battle just now.
It wasn't just that they had no use for the staff; they wouldn't have felt right competing with Gauss for even ordinary items.
Seeing that his teammates all agreed, Gauss nodded and thanked them.
He jumped onto the platform and gripped the staff at the only part with a slightly matte finish.
With a little effort, he pulled it out of the stone pedestal.
His first thought was that it was a bit heavy.
Fortunately, he was fairly strong, so he should still be able to use it.
He swung it twice
