I'm Cursing the Hokage
"Kurenai, look at those two! They're getting more and more outrageous!"
Kiba Inuzuka jumped up in anger.
For a single guy like him, this was a devastating blow.
"Didn't you hear what Feng An said? We're big white cabbages."
"Let's go, Big White Cabbage No. 2."
Kurenai smiled like a fond aunt and took the initiative to give Feng An and Hinata some space.
"Damn you, Feng An! I'm going to find myself a girlfriend too!"
Kiba Inuzuka glared viciously at the two acting all lovey-dovey, then left in a huff.
Kurenai, who was walking ahead, suddenly thought of something and called out, "Big White Cabbage No. 3, aren't you coming?"
"So I was noticed."
With his hands in his pockets, Shino Aburame calmly emerged from behind a tree, his expression unchanged.
After everyone had left, the two still kept their foreheads pressed together.
They could clearly feel each other's breath.
Hinata softly said, "The food will get cold."
"Mm, I know."
Feng An reluctantly pulled his forehead away from Hinata's.
Since transmigrating to the ninja world, this was the first time he had truly felt a sense of belonging with Hinata.
For thirteen years, he had been like an orphan wandering far from home, without any sense of belonging. Even though he knew the plot inside and out, he had never tried to change anything or profit from it.
The two leaned against the tree and sat together.
Blushing, Hinata adjusted the bangs on her forehead and edged a little closer to Feng An.
Her movements were slow, though. She was a little shy and afraid of disturbing him while he ate.
Feng An had already noticed her little movements.
So silly.
He took the initiative to move closer to Hinata.
Feeling his movement, Hinata hugged her knees and shyly buried her face against her chest.
In the quiet surroundings, even the sound of her heart pounding like a startled deer could be heard clearly.
Feng An took big bites of the bento Hinata had made for him.
He was not as calm as he looked. He was only pretending to be composed. Even after swallowing the vegetables he hated most, he did not notice their taste at all.
Seeing him wolfing down the food, Hinata shyly asked, "Is it good...?"
"It's good. Really good."
"I'm so glad it suits your taste. I was worried you wouldn't like it. By the way, what do you like to eat? I'll make it for you again next time."
Hinata lowered her face even further.
Cooking for a good friend is normal, right? Would this make things difficult for Feng An?
In her understanding, one had to be sixteen before dating. For now, she could only be good friends with Feng An.
As he ate, Feng An said, "I don't have any particular favorites. If I had to name one, Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes would count."
As for the food in the ninja world, there was nothing he especially liked. The only exception was Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes. Maybe it was because it reminded him of his previous life.
"Okay, then I'll make Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes next time."
Hearing Hinata's serious tone, Feng An said with some heartache, "Silly girl, you need to rest more when you have the time."
"It's fine. I'm very practiced at it now. Making a bento doesn't take long."
"Then if there's a chance, call me over. I'll help you out."
"Okay." Hinata had just agreed when she remembered her father's words.
Her gaze dimmed. "Maybe not. My father is very strict."
Feng An took his final big bite and closed the lunchbox.
"People don't slap a smiling face. Next time, I'll bring gifts when I visit. Your father would be too embarrassed to hit me."
"But..."
Hinata could not bring herself to say that Hiashi Hyuga did not approve of her being too close to Feng An.
She did not want Feng An and her father to end up on opposing sides.
"Don't worry."
Feng An smiled and rubbed her head.
He found himself liking to rub her hair more and more. Compared to his own rough hair, Hinata's hair felt exceptionally soft.
After Hinata carefully put away the lunchbox, the two quietly leaned against each other.
Having exhausted too much mental energy, Feng An soon fell asleep against Hinata's shoulder.
Noticing this, Hinata did not dare move, afraid of waking him.
Just like that, Hinata remained completely still.
Who knew how much time passed.
Feng An's head slipped from Hinata's shoulder.
The sudden heavy feeling in his head woke him at once.
Did I fall asleep?
He looked around. At some point, the sky had already grown dark.
Then he noticed that Hinata beside him seemed to have fallen asleep as well.
Her posture looked terribly uncomfortable. She had both arms wrapped tightly around her legs. Normally, once asleep, she would subconsciously loosen her hands.
But she had not. Even while asleep, her hands still seemed to be exerting force.
Seeing the red mark on Hinata's shoulder, Feng An remembered that he had slept leaning against it. No wonder he had slept so soundly.
Her tightly clasped hands must have been to keep herself from moving and waking him, right?
"I'm such an idiot."
He suddenly slapped his forehead, filled with regret.
"Mm... You're awake?"
Hinata rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at Feng An.
Seeing that he had woken her again, Feng An felt even guiltier.
"Get on."
He stepped forward and crouched in front of Hinata.
Hinata was still a little dazed from waking up and did not know what he was going to do.
Then Feng An grabbed her small hands and placed them over his shoulders before suddenly standing up.
Hinata ended up sprawled across his back like a koala.
Feng An reached back again, grasped her ankles and tucked them against his sides, then held her calves.
Hinata instantly woke up completely, and her face turned bright red.
"Feng An, what are you doing...?"
"Taking you home."
"Can you put me down? I can walk on my own..."
"Nope."
Feng An carried her toward the distance. No matter how she squirmed or struggled, he did not let go.
He liked Hinata's gentleness and kindness, but he did not like how she always accommodated others and burdened herself.
He did not want to see her efforts always go unrewarded.
Even if she did not need it, he would still do it.
"Hinata."
"Mm? What is it?"
Blushing, Hinata stopped struggling and shifted herself up a little, making it easier for Feng An to carry her.
"Don't care too much about what others think. Can you just be yourself?"
"Mm..."
Feng An's gaze was firm as he walked down the road.
He knew Hinata's personality would not be easy to change, but he had already decided to help her change, little by little.
At the very least, he wanted her to become more confident.
Since it was not too late yet, there were still quite a few pedestrians in the alleyways.
Feng An carried Hinata through the alley, and before long, they drew countless gazes.
Hinata buried her face against his neck and softly said, "Put me down. So many people are looking at us..."
"It's fine. I'll take a route with no one around."
Feng An leaped up with all his strength, landed on the surrounding rooftops, and headed straight for the Hyuga Clan.
"Won't that attract even more attention?"
Feng An smiled. "But they won't know who we are."
That does make some sense...
The corners of Hinata's lips lifted slightly. Smiling, she tightly hugged Feng An.
After Feng An jumped away, an angry man's voice came from behind them.
"Which bastard is jumping around on the rooftops again?! Dust fell into my soup!"
"Forget it, forget it. It must be Lord Hokage's people carrying out a mission."
A young woman pulled the cursing man back.
The man looked thoroughly displeased as he cursed, "So what if it's the Hokage?! I'm cursing the Hokage! You *** Hokage ***!"
It was obvious that ninjas jumping around on rooftops was not a one-time thing. The man had clearly been holding in his resentment for a long time, and now he had finally snapped.
"Oh, you're going to be the death of me."
The woman hurriedly covered his mouth and dragged him inside, afraid that someone else might hear him.
