"I'd better not use an A-rank difficulty Ninjutsu like the Great Waterfall Technique. I'll use a D-rank one instead."
Ninjutsu were divided into S, A, B, C, D, and E ranks. Rank did not represent power; the higher the rank, the harder it was to learn and master, while lower ranks were easier to grasp. The Three Body Technique taught at the Ninja Academy was E-rank Ninjutsu.
Feng An weighed it over in his heart. If a newly graduated genin like him had mastered an A-rank difficulty Ninjutsu without a teacher, he would either be worshipped as a genius or captured and dissected.
Seeing that Feng An still looked worried, Kiba Inuzuka could not help asking, "Still not ready, Feng An?"
Feng An glanced at Kiba and said, "I'm ready. Come on."
Hinata stopped practicing with her Shuriken and stepped aside, silently chanting in her heart, Go, Feng An...
"You're not attacking first? Then I will."
Kiba Inuzuka dropped to all fours. "Four Legs Technique."
His Chakra flow gathered in all four limbs, and his originally slender arms and legs instantly thickened.
It looked like a strengthening-type Ninjutsu.
Feng An still did not move. This was his first real battle, and his estimate of Kiba's abilities came entirely from Kiba's performance in Naruto from his previous life.
Now, he was rather curious about what it would feel like to experience it himself.
"Feng An, why aren't you moving?"
Kiba Inuzuka lay on the ground and looked at him in confusion.
Feng An was equally confused. "You haven't launched an attack yet. Why should I move?"
"I didn't expect you to be this arrogant," Kiba Inuzuka said coldly.
After being enhanced by the Four Legs Technique, Kiba's speed and strength had both doubled. He believed that if he attacked first, Feng An would have no time to react at all.
Yet Feng An's casual attitude made him furious.
Using both hands and feet, he suddenly launched his attack. The four shallow pits where he had originally stood showed just how greatly the Four Legs Technique enhanced the body.
Not only was it powerful, it was also incredibly fast. In an instant, he appeared before Feng An.
Kiba Inuzuka swung a claw at Feng An.
Feng An still did not move. In Kiba's eyes, he was simply too fast for Feng An to even react.
"It's over."
"Feng An..." Hinata did not dare look any longer and hurriedly covered her eyes.
At such close range, there was no way he could dodge!
Bang! Bang!
What?!
Kiba Inuzuka's pupils shrank as he stared in disbelief at the wooden post he had sent flying with one swipe.
"Body Replacement Jutsu!"
His nose suddenly twitched, and he immediately slashed a claw behind him.
Feng An, who had appeared behind him, hurriedly dodged and could not help sighing.
"Trying to sneak up on a Sensor Ninja is still a little difficult, even with the visual deception of the Body Replacement Jutsu."
Kiba Inuzuka crouched on the ground and stared at Feng An.
If not for his sharp sense of smell just now, he would already have lost.
"Looks like I was the arrogant one."
"Fang Passing!"
Kiba Inuzuka suddenly spun through the air at high speed, like a small tornado as he charged at Feng An.
Feng An immediately leaped backward.
While suspended in the air, his hands rapidly formed the six seals of Snake, Ram, Monkey, Boar, Horse, and Tiger.
Over the years, he had long since mastered the Great Fireball Technique. He only needed the final seal—Tiger—to cast it.
But there was no need to expose his true strength in a spar.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique."
Fwoosh—
A spherical flame five meters in diameter suddenly burst from his mouth and shot toward the pursuing Kiba Inuzuka.
"Damn, I clearly only used a tiny bit of Chakra."
He had deliberately controlled his Chakra, yet he had not expected the attack to still cover such a wide area. This was the pain of possessing Chakdora—it was hard to tell exactly how little "a tiny bit" was.
Kiba Inuzuka had been spinning at high speed when he saw such an enormous fireball. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
Didn't he say he only knew especially basic Ninjutsu?!
How the hell was he supposed to take that? He did not want to turn into roast suckling pig.
Kiba forcibly stopped spinning and leaped sharply to the side.
Even so, when the Great Fireball Technique struck the ground, small flames scattered by the impact still landed on him.
He hurriedly rolled farther away, trying to smother the flames.
Seeing this, Feng An and Hinata hurried over to help.
After a few stomps, the flames on Kiba Inuzuka were completely extinguished.
He let out a long breath.
Good thing Kiba Inuzuka was fine. Otherwise, he would have broken the rule that Fire Release could not kill anyone.
Kiba Inuzuka staggered to his feet, clutching his burned-up pants, which exposed pink boxers printed with dog heads. With a face full of dark lines, he shouted, "Didn't you say you only knew the most basic Ninjutsu?!"
Faced with Kiba Inuzuka's questioning, Feng An awkwardly rubbed his nose.
He could not help it. After thinking for a long time, he could not remember any useful D-rank Ninjutsu he knew. Although the Great Fireball Technique was C-rank, it still counted as a basic Fire Release technique.
"But why didn't I see you use that move when we sparred at the Ninja Academy? Don't tell me you only learned it recently?"
Kiba Inuzuka stared at him with an incredulous expression.
At the Ninja Academy, Feng An slept every day and slacked off whenever they sparred. Most of their classmates considered him a dead last who was only slightly better than Naruto, because Naruto had failed the Ninja Qualification Exam while Feng An had passed.
For someone like that to suddenly use such powerful Ninjutsu, the gap in anyone's expectations would be enormous.
But if Kiba knew that Feng An had mastered the Great Fireball Technique when he had just learned to walk, he would probably start questioning life itself.
"No. I studied it for a long time too. I only barely mastered it on the eve of graduation."
Feng An calmly deceived the emotionally wounded boy.
"So that's how it is. I almost thought you were some hateful genius. It really was the result of hard work! Looks like I'm still not working hard enough!"
My dream is to become Hokage. I can lose anywhere else, but I cannot lose when it comes to hard work!
Kiba Inuzuka clenched his fists. After seeing Feng An's strength, he resolved to train twice as hard.
"Feng An, you'll be my second opponent!"
Feng An asked in confusion, "Why second?"
"My first opponent is him."
Kiba Inuzuka turned his gaze toward the person quietly feeding bugs in the corner.
Following his gaze, Feng An saw a man dressed completely differently from everyone else. He had raised collar covering his mouth and wore a pair of sunglasses, making it impossible to read any change in his expression—the Konoha hip dude, Shino Aburame.
So it really was Shino.
Feng An had not seen Shino from the start and thought he had not come to train.
"His name is Shino Aburame. Don't be fooled by how unnoticeable he looks—he's actually very strong. If you don't use Fire Release, he'll definitely give you a terrible headache."
Feng An nodded.
Feng An strongly agreed with that. In the memories of his previous life, Shino Aburame was a man who had never suffered defeat.
Beyond that, there was another point Feng An strongly agreed with: Shino played with bugs. It did not seem like much in anime, but now his experience was no different from reality. Just imagining bugs hidden under Shino's clothes, or even inside his body, made his scalp tingle.
The group then resumed training on their own. The bug feeder fed bugs, and the dog feeder fed dogs.
Hinata was the only one training seriously.
Feng An deliberately found a good spot to sit off to the side and stared at Hinata.
Whenever Hinata activated her Byakugan, she noticed Feng An sitting behind her and watching her. She became so nervous that she stopped activating it.
As long as I can't see him, he isn't watching me!
Only by maintaining that self-hypnosis could Hinata enter a training state.
When the four had trained until noon, a familiar figure slowly approached.
Feng An and the others greeted her in unison, "Kurenai."
Kurenai nodded. "I'm back. I also picked up a commission for you while I was out."
"Great!"
Kiba Inuzuka and the other two were delighted. They had long wanted to shine during missions.
Enjoy being happy for a little longer. Once you see who the mission is for, you won't be smiling anymore.
Feng An gave them a sympathetic glance.
