Thanks to the Lord of Myriad Flesh for the reward!
Because he was only an auxiliary member, Isaac joined the Tower of Flesh with ease and received the newcomer benefits: the basic supplies for raising demonic creatures—Territory Magic · Beast Raising Ground.
Territory magic was a powerful kind of magic with almost no flexibility. Its effects were usually extremely potent, far surpassing its own level, but they only worked within a fixed area and could not be moved once established.
The Beast Raising Ground continuously transformed its environment into one suitable for the demonic creatures within. The direction of its first transformation took precedence and could not be reversed. At the same time, demonic creatures inside the Beast Raising Ground had heightened breeding urges and faster growth rates.
The latter effect in particular improved the longer the territory magic remained active, reducing growth time by up to one-third!
And this was only the newcomer benefit for auxiliary members!
"Tut, tut~" Having glimpsed only the tip of the iceberg of the Wizarding World, Isaac shook his head as he began looking through the demonic creatures he could raise.
Opening the little booklet given to him by the Tower of Flesh's familiar, Isaac read it carefully. Besides choosing cautiously, he also wanted to use this opportunity to gain a general understanding of demonic creatures.
Right now, he lacked everything.
After a while, once he had roughly memorized all the creatures in the booklet, Isaac settled on his targets—Dragon Lizards and Demon Rats.
There was no need to say much about the latter. Demon Rat—just hearing that name made it sound powerful. Combined with his Innate Sorcery, it should produce decent results. Even if transforming them required a lot of magic power, that was fine; he could replace the Demonized Wild Boar's heart with one.
Not only would it greatly improve his combat power, but the Tower of Flesh also offered a fairly high purchase price for them.
As for Dragon Lizards...
The word "dragon" already explained everything.
Moreover, Dragon Lizards were a breeding project supported by the Tower of Flesh. Though difficult to raise, they offered considerable returns. For a Dragon Lizard that met the standards, one could choose any one Wizard Manuscript from the First-Circle Spell Library!
If exchanged for Demon Rats, it would take a thousand of them just to barely get one manuscript.
But naturally, such high returns were not so easily earned. Just as the famous saying went—so, Goudan, what was the price~?
They were hard to raise!
The Tower of Flesh's reclamation standard required the incomparably thin Dragon Bloodline within a Dragon Lizard to partially awaken, giving it the potential to become a true Dragon Vein Demonic Creature!
To meet that standard, ordinary breeding was definitely not enough. Besides the Territory Magic · Beast Raising Ground, it had to eat well at every meal, and potions had to be continuously fed into it as well. Based on previously compiled data, it normally took three to five Bloodline Essence Potions to partially awaken the Dragon Bloodline in its body.
The cost was high.
But Isaac could afford it!
Thus, after only a brief consideration, he made his decision between Demon Rats and Dragon Lizards.
He wanted them all!
First, he wanted to see whether his Golden Finger could affect the awakening of a Dragon Lizard's bloodline. Second, even if the Golden Finger proved useless, he could force the awakening with Bloodline Essence Potions!
After all, brewing a potion only cost him forty Gold Coins, so the cost was not too high.
That was how he could maximize his returns!
Having made his decision, Isaac began placing his order. First, two Dragon Lizard hatchlings at ten Gold Coins each; then ten Demon Rats at one Gold Coin each. Next came the feed. Both Dragon Lizards and Demon Rats were relatively easy to keep alive, as long as there was enough demonic creature flesh. He spent ten Gold Coins on three Demonized Wild Boar carcasses, enough to last three to five days.
But after thinking it over, Isaac added another three wild boars, gathering the materials required for the Spell Ascension Ritual in advance and buying them all at once.
After handing fifty Gold Coins to the Tower of Flesh's familiar, it gave Isaac a sheet of Parchment. This was the transaction voucher; once the Dragon Lizards and Demon Rats arrived, he would need this Parchment to collect them. The ones in Lakeside Town were merely samples and could not be taken out.
The wild boar carcasses, however, did not require such trouble. Six Demonized Wild Boars sounded like a lot, but after extraction, there was not much left. One carriage was more than enough to carry them.
Driving the carriage, Isaac bought all the materials needed to set up the Beast Raising Ground. Only then did he head to the harbor, move the wild boar meat onto a small boat piece by piece, and leave Lakeside Town.
Back in the woodland, after completely unloading the wild boar meat, Isaac rolled his shoulders, gave the Old Witch a slight bow, then carried the magic materials and headed alone toward the castle.
As for the wild boar meat?
What a joke. Isaac was, at least, a noble Young Master! A member of the evil landowning class!
Did he need to do this sort of manual labor himself?
Night. Basement.
Isaac stood before a magic circle piled with demonic creature flesh. Over his Wizard Robe, he wore a coarse garment soaked in Goblin blood. The magic circle held all manner of limbs—some from Goblins, some from rats, and even some from humans!
Of course, Isaac had bought that last portion from Lakeside Town.
The entire ritual site looked exceedingly bloody!
That was also a characteristic of rituals for the Lord of Myriad Flesh: the higher the specifications, the more sacrifices were required.
After steadying his emotions, Isaac half-knelt before the magic circle, clasped his hands before his chest, lowered his head, and closed his eyes. In a low voice, he chanted an obscure incantation. A fishy gale suddenly swept in, and with a whoom, ignited the various limbs atop the magic circle!
At the same time, the Demonized Flesh arranged around him abruptly transformed into streams of green smoke that gathered within the magic circle, forming a Green Flame Phantom.
Though he kept his head lowered the entire time, the form of the Lord of Myriad Flesh still appeared in Isaac's mind. It was a ball of flesh!
A ball of flesh packed with every kind of limb and organ!
This made Isaac even more vigilant, his attention focused on the probability displayed by his Golden Finger. The Demon God was far more terrifying than he had imagined. It seemed the plan needed changing.
"Watching" the number in his mind shift constantly along with the target of his ritual, Isaac lowered his demands somewhat, maintaining it at five hundred percent. There was a little less he could seize, but that was all right. Safety came first; there would be other opportunities in the future.
The chaotic thoughts in Isaac's mind converged like lightning and flint, and his demeanor became several degrees more respectful.
[Legendary Wizard? You truly are interesting~ humans~ Speak your wish! Whatever wish it may be~ I can grant it for you!]
"Supreme Lord of Myriad Flesh, it is an honor to meet you. My wish is simple: I hope you can help me optimize this spell, allowing it to achieve the optimization recorded here."
[Hehe~ Is that all? Are you sure?]
"Supreme Lord of Myriad Flesh, I am sure."
[You're lying. You Legendary Wizards are all madmen. You must have other plans—say them all at once.]
Seeing that the Lord of Myriad Flesh had yet to make a move, Isaac was somewhat surprised. But he suppressed his curiosity and did not rashly raise his head to look upon the Lord of Myriad Flesh. If It wanted to drag things out, then let It. His true plan was proceeding in an orderly fashion anyway.
Watching the success rate slowly decline in his mind, the corners of Isaac's lips curled upward slightly.
The two remained deadlocked for a moment. In the end, the Lord of Myriad Flesh was the first to lose patience. A ray shot out from Its phantom and sank into the notebook Isaac had offered, and a dense, evil aura began to coil around it.
If Isaac opened the notebook now, he would surely discover that the writing inside was twisting!
Reforming into an entirely new spell!
"Phew~"
Before long, the notebook floating in the air completed its final revision. It transformed from an ordinary notebook recording spells into an evil Spellbook.
By holding this Spellbook, one could directly unleash the spells recorded within without meeting their casting requirements.
But the price was that one needed to regularly feed it flesh and blood as a sacrifice to the Lord of Myriad Flesh.
Of course, that was merely a smokescreen.
The true purpose was for the Lord of Myriad Flesh to gradually establish a connection with this world through the sacrificial process, ultimately descending upon it!
Then devouring everything!
Demon Gods were not benevolent beings.
As the Spellbook slowly fell to the ground, the probability in Isaac's mind dropped from one thousand percent to five hundred percent. At this point, Isaac knew it was time to stop.
Thus, without hesitation, he ended the ritual and sent off the utterly baffled Lord of Myriad Flesh.
Were Legendary Wizards these days really so generous? The ritual's power had only been used up a little, yet he had caused such a huge commotion just to alter a single spell?
Was this what Legendary Wizards of the new era were like?
If so, then...
"Bastard!!! Damn insect! I'll kill you!!!!"
"Boom!"
Within an unknown dimension, countless scarlet eyes flew open, filled with flames of fury. Violent magic power poured wantonly into the unknown void, while innumerable indescribable masses of grotesque flesh grew from the emptiness!
After withdrawing Its incarnation, It finally understood that Legendary Wizard's target—the Flesh Dimension!
Though only a small piece had been cut away, something negligible to It that would recover after a nap, the loss of power was one thing!
The loss of dignity was another!
A mere Formal Wizard had actually dared to lay hands on It?
And had even succeeded!
He already dared to snatch Its Flesh Dimension while still a Formal Wizard. Once that fellow grew stronger, It did not even dare imagine how outrageous he would become!
However...
The Lord of Myriad Flesh, in Its towering rage, only raged for a moment. After venting Its magic power, It unwillingly glanced in the direction of Isaac's world, then silently closed Its eyes.
That world...
It could not afford to provoke it...
Sending an incarnation to stir up trouble was one thing. Sending Its true body was out of the question...
Surely It could not throw away Its life for the sake of dignity, could It?
Meanwhile, in the basement, the first thing Isaac did after ending the ritual was destroy the ritual setup, lest the Lord of Myriad Flesh fly into a rage and use the ritual to pursue him.
Not a single risk could be left behind!
Only after finishing all that did Isaac happily pick up the Spellbook from the floor. Yet rather than opening it immediately, he closed his eyes. Guided by the sensation deep within his soul, his Mental Power arrived in a void.
A void roughly one hundred cubic meters in size, containing absolutely nothing.
This was the greatest gain from his ritual—the Flesh Dimension!
A dimension was a special kind of parallel world. Such parallel worlds contained no life at all and were usually where Demon Gods dwelled, as well as the source of their power.
Different dimensions possessed different laws.
It was precisely by relying on dimensions that Demon Gods possessed nearly limitless magic power and vitality!
And this stretch of void was the dimension Isaac had stolen from the Lord of Myriad Flesh!
Or rather, a Dimensional Seed.
