Enlightenment

Time passed swiftly, and before he knew it, September had arrived.

Over the past few months, Bai Yue had traveled all across the world. An ordinary person could never have accomplished such a feat, but for him, already at the Planet Level, it was nothing remarkable.

Ever since he had understood the method of comprehending a domain, he had stopped concerning himself with worldly matters. He only wanted to walk more roads, see more different sights, draw close to nature, and merge with it. Even the many upheavals on Fog Island in August had not halted his cultivation.

Although he usually traveled on foot in order to better experience nature, he still took a Smart Fighter when crossing oceans.

He simply followed his nature and did whatever he wanted!

Mount Everest was the main peak of the Himalayas and the highest peak in the world. It stood 8,848 meters above sea level, on the border between Huaxia Country and Nepal.

The northern slope within Huaxia Country was the main route for mountaineering enthusiasts climbing Mount Everest.

However, ever since the Great Nirvana Era, few people had been able to come here. As humanity's territory shrank, vast Wilderness Areas had been left vacant, and over the decades, they had long since been occupied by countless monsters.

Only a small number of councilors could cross the Wilderness Area to reach this place.

The sky was overcast, and the freezing wind howled. Today was clearly not a good day for climbing, yet a black figure was making his way toward the summit.

That person was Bai Yue. He wore a black one-piece training suit, and snowflakes covered his head, clothes, and even his eyelashes. He had clearly been climbing for quite some time.

His shoes left footprints in the snow. His pace was neither hurried nor slow, and every step was steady as he gradually approached the summit.

The fierce wind carried down snowflakes, gradually burying those footprints again, just like the bodies of explorers deeply buried beneath the ice and snow.

At the peak of this vast white snow mountain, the low temperatures had driven most living things to extinction. It was quiet, even deathly still, as if time itself had frozen. Only Bai Yue's figure and the string of footprints he left behind continued stretching toward the summit.

The wind seemed to grow more violent, and the sky darker.

At last, he reached the summit!

Standing at the peak and gazing into the distance, he saw endless mountain ranges rising and falling, winding peaks, clouds curling around them, all hazy and indistinct.

Bai Yue sat cross-legged atop the summit, empty of thought and desire. His heart was as pure and ethereal as the snow mountain itself.

His experiences from two lifetimes, everything he had seen and heard, gradually surfaced in his mind. Even things he had forgotten emerged one after another.

In his previous life, he had been born into an ordinary rural family. His background was ordinary, his appearance ordinary, his grades unremarkable, and later, he found an ordinary job.

After he began working, aside from the first year or two as an apprentice, when he only earned enough to support himself, he had spent the rest of his money helping his family, honoring his parents, and supporting his two younger sisters through university. He did not even dare buy himself an extra piece of clothing, believing it was all his duty.

Several more years passed in a flash. At twenty-five, with his parents urging him to marry year after year, he had nearly given in. Then his uneventful life encountered a small twist—he found a reasonably pretty girlfriend studying English education.

Like most couples in the beginning, they were deeply affectionate. He had naively believed they would walk together into the halls of marriage, so while his salary was decent, he took on all of his girlfriend's school expenses.

Yet reality often did not bend to personal will. After his girlfriend graduated, when he proposed marriage, she told him that she had just graduated and did not want to marry yet. She wanted to take the civil service examination for a teaching position, and he agreed.

More than another year passed. After a year of preparation, his girlfriend finally passed the teacher recruitment exam. She was assigned to a different city, and when she left, they agreed that they would marry once her work became stable.

Then came half a year of long-distance dating. Just before the holiday, his girlfriend broke up with him, even though they had been discussing names for their future children only two days earlier!

When he asked why, she told him that a male teacher at her school was pursuing her, and that she had fallen for him. Ridiculous, wasn't it? Yet that was reality.

He put aside his work and braved the wind and snow to rush to the school where his girlfriend worked, but he was not even able to see her. After waiting bitterly through the entire night, she only came out the next day to have a meal with him and explain further: his family background was poor, and he could not give her a good life in the future.

After returning home, he, who had never drunk alcohol in his life, bought a great deal of liquor, hoping to numb himself with it. Then, in his muddled state, he came to this world.

In his previous life, he had struggled alone outside his hometown and spent most of his time working overtime. Sometimes, he wondered what would happen to his parents and two younger sisters if he suddenly died from overwork. So he had left himself a backup plan, spending a little money each year on insurance. He had told his parents about it too, so his sudden death would leave his family a fairly substantial inheritance. In that sense, he had no regrets.

"Alone in this life, there is only the Dao! Let the past remain in the past."

Having cast off that burden, Bai Yue felt that his heart had never been so clear and complete. The connection between the small world of his life and the great universe beyond had never flowed so smoothly.

His spiritual consciousness spread out from his body, filling the summit and gradually expanding outward. Feeling the degree of control he possessed within this range, he rose from his cross-legged position.

When I stand atop the mountain's highest peak, I am the peak. Standing there, Bai Yue seemed to merge with the surrounding mountains, connecting heaven and earth, peerless and alone!

The first level of the Earth Domain had been achieved!

With his mind immersed in the domain, he sensed the changes of heaven, earth, and nature. It seemed as though even the workings of rules were within his grasp, and he had even gained the slightest trace of insight into the universe's Origin Law.

"Quack, quack." A cry brimming with killing intent came from afar.

A snow-white goose was patrolling the land from the distant sky. Judging by the aura emanating from its body, it had already reached the level of a Mid-level Lord.

It was searching for prey. Animals capable of surviving in this era were no longer comparable to those from before the Great Nirvana Era. Even species that had once been docile became vicious and cruel in order to survive, evolving sharp fangs and claws to arm themselves!

It did not notice Bai Yue. With his domain released, the aura around his body was perfectly rounded and unified, blending into heaven, earth, and nature. Naturally, a Mid-level Lord monster could not detect him.

With a thought, the Snow Goose in the sky felt as if a great mountain had pressed down on its body. Its body instantly stiffened, and even its thoughts seemed to slow as it plunged straight toward the ground.

With a boom, the Snow Goose, as enormous as a passenger jet, slammed into the side of a mountain. The tremendous impact and sound echoed through the valley as the accumulated snow collapsed thunderously, surging down the mountain with the momentum of a thousand troops, forming a sizable avalanche.

"Quack, quack."

Still unaware of what had happened, the Snow Goose let out a miserable cry. Bai Yue did not continue tormenting it. With another thought, he released his suppression. Feeling the pressure on its body vanish abruptly, it hurriedly flew back into the sky and fled into the distance.

The avalanche continued, like falling dominoes, dragging even more snow down with it.

After carefully sensing his domain again and finding that controlling distant areas gradually became more difficult, he thought, It seems the farther away something is, the more difficult it is to control within the domain.

Conversely, the closer something was, the more precise his control became. A domain could not only restrain enemies; it could also be condensed around the body to block attacks, just as Long Yun had done during the Genius Battle. Of course, that required extremely high control and extensive practice. Bai Yue, who had only just comprehended a domain, could not yet do it.
