"Stop pretending. Just tell me directly: what would it take for you to agree to become my mother's Sovereign God emissary?"

Seeing Hermes repeatedly dodge the question, Leis Jing finally lost patience.

He asked outright.

"Huh?" This time, Hermes was the one who was dumbfounded.

He knew the Purple Thorn Sovereign God was definitely watching everything from behind the scenes.

Hermes considered himself incomparably powerful, on par with a Paragon? That was merely his bare minimum goal.

But he wasn't a Paragon yet, and he didn't dare put on airs in front of a Sovereign God.

Sovereign Gods regarded Paragons so highly for more than just the fact that Paragons were emperors among the gods, absolutely invincible among the God-level.

Even if they were invincible, in front of a Sovereign God they were still just oversized ants.

A Sovereign God's casually formed energy clone might not be able to do anything to a Paragon, but if the Sovereign God's true body came down, it could easily crush a Paragon High-God to death.

Of course, almost no Sovereign God would casually attack a God-level being.

Let alone a Paragon.

There was another reason Sovereign Gods regarded Paragons so highly: they had to admire the Paragons' achievements in the laws.

And they envied them immensely!

Among the Sovereign Gods, three of the Four Rule Sovereigns were Paragons. The Death Sovereign wasn't a Paragon, but he was the first life born in the Underworld and possessed the Underworld's supreme treasure.

His strength was also beyond the heavens.

This gave people the false impression that there were many Paragons among the Sovereign Gods.

In reality, that wasn't the case.

Only Theresia, the Wind Lower Sovereign God, was known for certain to be a Paragon. Of the other seventy-odd Sovereign Gods, no one had ever heard of any being a Paragon.

The Four Divine Beasts were special, but they only dominated through their Combined Innate Divine Ability.

In terms of the laws, they had only reached the level of Five-fold Profound Mystery Fusion that was normal for Sovereign Gods.

"I've heard that Sovereign Gods treat their emissaries like slaves, making them kneel and bow at the slightest whim."

"I really don't like that!"

Hermes could only tell the truth.

He knew the Purple Thorn Sovereign God was watching his every move. Having Leis Jing test him first had already proved that the Purple Thorn Sovereign God wasn't unreasonable.

"Rumble~!"

Boundless Sovereign's Might suddenly gathered around Hermes, and a beautiful woman in a purple robe appeared.

"I'll grant you the same freedom as a Paragon, and you won't have to kneel to me. Are you willing to become my emissary?"

The Purple Thorn Sovereign God spoke.

With those words, she had completely cut off Hermes's retreat.

Dared he refuse a powerful Sovereign God?

He didn't.

"Rumble~!"

The golden mountain range, tens of thousands of meters tall, vanished. Hermes appeared before the Purple Thorn Sovereign God, his short hair golden.

He bowed in greeting at the same time.

Knowing the Purple Thorn Sovereign God was waiting for his answer, Hermes no longer hesitated. He bowed deeply once more.

"Hahaha, wonderful!"

Leis Jing leaped dozens of meters into the air and landed right on Hermes's broad, mountain-like shoulder.

"Hey, Leis Jing, are you treating me like a mount?"

Hermes reached out to pull Leis Jing down, but the bald kid suddenly flew to the other side.

"Big guy, don't be so stingy. I'll turn back into my true form and let you ride me sometime."

Hermes was even more unsettled. Why did that sound so suggestive?

"Give me a break~!"

"Get down, or I'm going to beat you up!"

With the Purple Thorn Sovereign God watching, Hermes couldn't use his ultimate move. Otherwise, Leis Jing wouldn't have had a chance to climb onto him.

"All right, Leis Jing, stop fooling around!"

The Purple Thorn Sovereign God was extremely pleased that Hermes had agreed.

She hurriedly stopped Leis Jing.

Along with that, her way of addressing her son became more formal.

"Yes, Mother!" Leis Jing was just excited. He didn't really mean to treat Hermes as a mount.

Worried Hermes might make the wrong choice, the Purple Thorn Sovereign God explained.

"In that case, I'll choose a Soul Defense Sovereign Artifact."

He'd left the Great Earth God Plane and come to Hell. It wasn't that he absolutely didn't want to become a Sovereign God's emissary.

He simply didn't want to become an emissary whom a Sovereign God could order around at will.

Since the Purple Thorn Sovereign God was showing him such respect, he'd better accept it. Otherwise, he'd be ungrateful.

"Good~!"

The Purple Thorn Sovereign God smiled.

"This is a Soul Defense Sovereign Artifact I use myself."

A bracelet glowing with a faint purple light flew before Hermes, and he caught it in one hand.

"Thank you, Sovereign God."

Hermes bowed.

"Mm. This bracelet is also a storage item, and should be better than ordinary storage items."

After the Purple Thorn Sovereign God finished speaking, the clone formed from Sovereign's Might dissipated.

"Well?"

Leis Jing returned to his original size and hovered in front of Hermes as he spoke.

How should one describe Sovereign Gods as a group?

Perhaps their long-standing position high above everyone else had gradually made them overbearing.

They looked down on everything.

In fact, once they refined a Sovereign Spark and became Sovereign Gods, they truly transcended the ordinary level of life.

Boundless Sovereign's Might would transform a High-God's body into a Sovereign's body.

What's more, the Will Power contained within a Sovereign Spark was, in reality, the authority of the Coiling Dragon Universe.

In other words,

the moment someone became a Sovereign God, they became an Authority Dog.

A vast Supreme Plane was boundless, even if you converted it into the starry expanse of the universe.

But a Sovereign God could cover all of it with a single Spiritual Sense. What else could you call that but being an Authority Dog?

And the key was this!

Sovereign Gods could also condense Sovereign God giant faces or energy clones out of thin air.

As long as someone hadn't reached Paragon, as long as they weren't an Authority Dog, a Sovereign God could kill a God-level being with nothing more than a thought.

How could anyone even play that game?

There was no way!

Besides, although a Sovereign God's energy clone truly couldn't kill a Paragon, a Paragon still couldn't escape death if the Sovereign God's true body came down.

In the Coiling Dragon World, a Paragon was really just an infinitely weakened version of an Authority Dog.

The only authority they possessed was the portion of Will Power within their soul.

The might they could unleash wasn't even remotely comparable to a Sovereign God's power.

But that didn't mean the portion of Will Power within their soul was weak. If a Sovereign God reached Paragon, their strength would immediately increase a hundredfold in every aspect.

This probably had to do with the difference between Soul Willpower and Sovereign Spark Willpower.
