Background / History
Judy worked with the Jedi Brothers Newspaper and was last known to have been with reporter Cote Dane before his disappearance. When Dane vanished while pursuing a serial murderer, she independently arranged and registered a missing-person notice, insisting that it promise a substantial reward despite the newspaper agency's reluctance to fund one. She also sought help from multiple police stations, but received no meaningful assistance. 6 7 44
Her desperation drew Detective Chao's attention through the wish power imbued in the missing-person notices. Judy signed his contract, pledging 500 Ceriel and wish power in exchange for Dane's whereabouts. 6 7
After Dane was rescued from the Sinclair Grand Theatre, Judy fulfilled the contract despite fearing that Chao might be seeking her soul. The experience left her fatigued briefly, but confirmed that Chao had taken only the agreed wish power. 25 27
Following the theatre incident, Judy and Dane remained in hiding. She continued submitting reports to the newspaper without returning to work in person, while the City Guard began quietly treating her as a possible lead to the masked figure and alleged cultists behind the case. 36 44
Appearance
Judy is described as a girl with twin ponytails. 6
Personality
Judy is fiercely devoted to Dane's safety. She pursued every available avenue after his disappearance, challenged the police's indifference toward victims from the lower districts, and accepted Chao's opaque contract because finding Dane mattered more to her than personal risk. 7 27
Though anxious around Chao's secrecy and cautious enough to arm herself, she does not abandon people in danger. At the burning theatre, she confronted Ghost despite visibly trembling, then carried the weakened Dane toward safety. 22 25
She is also compassionate and civic-minded. Before Dane's disappearance, her reporting on abandoned injured workers helped generate public discussion and contributed to the Count compelling companies to fund medical care through Yenie Holy Hall. 47
