"Those powers of the Abyss were contained by this Curio, right?" Sparkle couldn't help turning to Chen Li and asking.
"That's right." Chen Li nodded.
Sparkle looked again at the hardcover storybook, which gave off a faint scent of books and had an antique cover.
By then, Cyrene had long been unable to resist her curiosity and had opened the storybook.
The pages were not filled with dense text. Instead, they flowed with vivid images of miniature worlds that constantly evolved.
Every page was a world.
Some worlds were rebuilding from ruins. Some were still feeling their way through endless darkness. In others, countless tiny yet tenacious lives struggled desperately to survive.
As they watched scene after scene, the countless people gathered around were utterly entranced.
Just then, Chen Li suddenly reached out and shut the book.
Snap.
Everyone froze, then looked up in confusion.
"Do you even understand what you're looking at? Be careful not to get trapped in the possibilities and lose yourselves." Chen Li looked helplessly at the bewildered crowd.
"You never said your Curio had a hypnotic effect." Sparkle rubbed her slightly sore eyes and complained.
"Isn't it common sense that storybooks make people sleepy?" Chen Li asked in return.
"What kind of common sense is that?" Sparkle was speechless.
"Back when other people helped put me to sleep, they used storybooks to do it." Chen Li said casually, a trace of nostalgia in his voice.
"I never expected you to have such an innocent childhood." Sparkle looked at Chen Li in surprise, a flicker of astonishment passing through her purplish-red eyes.
"I just don't know why the back of my head would hurt a little whenever I woke up. Oh, sometimes it was my forehead." Chen Li rubbed the back of his head, looking puzzled.
