Background / History
Sparkle is a Masked Fool whose red-and-white Mask of Joy was stolen before her first encounter with Chen Li. To become a genuine Masked Fool, one must personally steal a Joy-blessed mask from the Mourning Troupe; Sparkle later infiltrated the troupe’s ship to obtain another mask. 78 140
She sought Chen Li’s help in forging an artifact, initially intending to join the Genius Society and settle her dispute with Aha, the Aeon of Joy. Chen Li instead used her lost mask to create the Joy Dice and arranged a challenge between Sparkle and Aha. Sparkle entered an Invitation Space expecting amusement, only to learn that her opponent was the Aeon himself. 78 197 201
Sparkle fought Aha through amusement-park attractions while relying on miraculous artifacts. The Joy Dice rolled a one, repeatedly triggering setbacks and negative effects until Aha won; nevertheless, Sparkle persisted despite the humiliation. 202
After arriving on the Xianzhou, Sparkle was framed for a large holographic disturbance and became wanted by the Cloud Knights. Pardo captured her for the reward, after which Chen Li compelled Sparkle to form the “Flower Blossom” duo with Pardo and promise responsibility for her partner’s livelihood. 263 264
Aha later granted Sparkle Envoy of Joy power for “self-defense.” When Chen Li forced her into a duel, she used this power and her one-use Blink technique, but surrendered after recognizing that her plan could not overcome him. She admitted that Silver Wolf had hired her to stall Chen Li, then chose to prioritize her relationship with him. 300 302
In the Holy Grail War, a different manifestation of Sparkle was summoned as an Alter Ego. This Servant was formed from the resentment and memories of masks discarded by countless previous Sparkles, while retaining an independent personality after Scott inadvertently became the target of the masks’ hatred. 1231 1295 She used streaming to accumulate wish power, took Scott’s mask as a catalyst, and turned him into a compliant servant through her Inherent Skill. 1231
The old-model Sparkle eventually transferred six Command Spells, her accumulated assets, and contracts with two Aeon-level Heroic Spirits to Spark before dying. The successor inherited these burdens and pursued Origami University, illegal summoning, and a larger role in the Holy Grail War. 1302 1303
Appearance
Sparkle normally presents herself as a small girl with a red-and-white Mask of Joy, though she can freely alter her appearance.
- Her true Masked Fool form is identified by a tilted red-and-white mask. 78
- She has disguised herself as Acheron, Raiden Mei, Robin, and a female Intelligent Machine. 300 349 706 805
- The Heroic Spirit manifestation is associated with a pleated skirt and a smartphone Noble Phantasm. 1231
- Her body can be temporarily overtaken by individual discarded-mask personas, including an opera-mask personality. 1295
Personality
Sparkle treats chaos, embarrassment, and competition as entertainment. She actively seeks spectacles, believes a Masked Fool may die but must never be boring, and often creates trouble before offering to solve it. 196 382 Her preferred schemes involve baiting rivals, manipulating social dynamics, and turning conflicts into public performances. 706 1033
She is resourceful and highly adaptable, but not fearless. Sparkle will surrender when she sees no viable path to victory, flee when danger becomes excessive, and avoid provoking Chen Li beyond what she believes she can survive. 302 706 1294 Her bravado also conceals insecurity: Elysia describes her as someone who hides confusion behind laughter. 613
Despite her selfishness, Sparkle can show consideration. She collected firework debris to avoid making a mess in Chen Li’s yard, accepted responsibility for Pardo, and eventually considered Chen Li’s plan to save endangered World Bubbles seriously. 264 613 1476
Abilities & Skills
Transformation and Impersonation
Sparkle can transform into other people and imitate their appearance convincingly.
- Can disguise herself as virtually anyone. 78 1295
- Used personal effects from Friends Circle members to acquire attributes for impersonation. 805
- Can place a spare Joy mask on another person, turning them into a Sparkle-like duplicate with her attributes. 805
- Her disguises are useful in New Penacony because ordinary dream participants cannot freely alter their appearances there. 706
I am Joy
An EX-rank Class Skill and miraculous artifact associated with Sparkle’s travel and social connections. 455 1510
- Allows her to appear near a friend, a friend of a friend, or—at most—someone within three degrees of social separation. 349 362
- Can be used to travel across worlds through friendship connections. 455
- Requires Sparkle to seek or create amusement after completing a “story arc”; it does not require amusement after every individual teleport. 363
- Makes her a valuable transport option, as riders can use her travel ability by providing a little fun. 428
Envoy of Joy Power and Blink
Aha granted Sparkle Envoy of Joy power, later reclaiming it while leaving her with Blink. 300 302
- Blink creates numerous apparent copies of Sparkle and allows her to reposition behind an opponent. 302
- Aha described Blink as an ultimate move usable only once in a Masked Fool’s lifetime, though Sparkle distrusts that claim. 302
- Blink failed to give her a decisive advantage against Chen Li. 302
Fool’s Thousand Faces
Sparkle’s B++-rank Noble Phantasm. 455
- When used on herself, it can summon a bomb. 455
- When used on a teammate, it instantly brings that teammate to Sparkle and halves their Noble Phantasm consumption. 455
- Sparkle suggested using the teammate-summoning effect to turn Chen Li into a “meat shield.” 455
Thousand Faces, One Person
An Inherent Skill of the Alter Ego manifestation. 1231
- Forces a target to think of themselves as Sparkle while preserving their independent consciousness. 1231
- Grants affected targets a substantially weakened version of Sparkle’s overall abilities. 1231
- Scott accepted loyalty to avoid being subjected to this ability. 1231
Traffic Pool
A streaming-based Inherent Skill that converts attention into power. 1316
- Stores popularity, attention, and fan points as magical energy. 1316
- Allows a Phantasmal Construct like Sparkle to strengthen herself through wish power. 1231 1316
- Her strength is influenced by audience expectations, a general risk of gathering wish power. 1493
- Chen Li later disabled her ability to receive donations from other worlds, limiting her ability to use livestream PK matches offensively. 1316
Negotiation and Manipulation
Sparkle is an accomplished manipulator who uses incentives, information, and staged helplessness to secure cooperation.
- Borrowed Chen Li’s Silver Tongue for a single negotiation with Zelretch, using Starstones to secure his assistance. 362 363
- Helped Sirin solve a Friends Circle problem while earning Friendship Points for herself. 382
- Reworked the Counterfeit Holy Grail War into a system where defeated Masters could become Servants, intending to make it a zero-sum contest where the strong humiliate the weak. 1420 1421

- Pardofelis — Brief partner in the “Flower Blossom” duo; Sparkle promised to take responsibility for Pardo’s life. 264
- Silver Wolf — Former client and friend who hired Sparkle to alter Firefly’s Penacony script; Sparkle later accepted a job to stall Chen Li for her. 302 706
