When he pushed the courtyard gate open again, Yu Xing caught a whiff of blood.
He strolled inside, easily gripping the boy by the back of his neck. A faint black mist flowed behind him like a tail, closing the gate.
Looking up, he saw Ghost Wine leaning against the open doorway of the house, holding Stop Killing. The blade gleamed as if it were brand-new, but a small pool of blood had gathered on the ground beneath it.
Stop Killing never stayed dirty.
But it was obvious that the blade had drawn blood just moments ago.
"Have you killed her already?" Yu Xing raised an eyebrow. He was naturally referring to Sister Xue. If she was dead, that meant Zhao Mou had gathered enough information and was confident he could impersonate her.
Ghost Wine didn't answer. His cold gaze fell on the red cloth shoes boy hanging his head in Yu Xing's hand. His wrist shifted, and the blade flashed with a cold glint.
Then Ghost Wine curled his lips and drawled, "Is this one for killing, too?"
The boy stirred, lifting his head slightly. Through the gaps in his tangled hair, his dark eyes looked toward Ghost Wine.
From that one glance alone, it was hard to tell if he was afraid. Only Yu Xing knew the boy had trembled just a moment ago. He was definitely not as calm and dejected as he appeared.
Just then, Zhao Mou came out of the house.
He was holding the clothes Sister Xue had worn, and the stone-carved hidden weapons had been sorted into separate piles. His expression was as usual. "He looks very young. I doubt he can take much of a scare. A Jiu, stop frightening him."
Ghost Wine scoffed and put away Stop Killing. "I only wanted
