Gu Mian suspected that whatever had knocked on the door might be invisible. It had most likely already come out through the door.

Although he had only opened the door a crack and stood in front of it, so the ghost would have had to knock him aside to get out, the greenhouse doors were very tall. He couldn't be sure the ghost hadn't crawled through the gap above his head.
