The Gift

Early the next morning.

Golden morning light slanted into the room. Lin Qingzhu murmured a couple of times in her sleep, then shifted and curled up completely in Ning Wangshu's arms.

After quite a while, Lin Qingzhu finally woke up.

"Wangshu, what time is it?"

Seeing Ning Wangshu looking down at her, Lin Qingzhu blinked and asked.

"It's almost eight."

Ning Wangshu smiled.

"Ah, it's already eight! It's all your fault, you naughty thing—you kept me up so late last night! No, I've got to get up and start cultivating..."

Lin Qingzhu hurriedly sat up and climbed out of bed.

Ning Wangshu smiled sheepishly. "Why don't you eat something first, then cultivate? It's Saturday, after all. We don't have anything to do, and there's no class."

"Uh, all right."

Lin Qingzhu tilted her head and agreed.

After going downstairs with Lin Qingzhu for breakfast, they returned home. Lin Qingzhu began cultivating on her own, while Ning Wangshu took out his phone and called Gu Ziyu.

Earlier, when he'd gone to Shanglin Town, Gu Ziyu had called to say that her superior wanted to meet and talk with him.

Although he had no idea what the other party wanted to discuss, Ning Wangshu had decided to meet him first and see.

The call connected quickly. Ning Wangshu told Gu Ziyu that he'd returned to Jiangnan City. Gu Ziyu didn't say much over the phone. She only said that she would report to her superior right away and then get back in touch.

Ning Wangshu didn't have to wait long. Just over half an hour later, Gu Ziyu called back.

"Mister Ning, would you be free tomorrow? If so, my superior would like to come to Jiangnan City tomorrow and meet with you."

Gu Ziyu asked.

Ning Wangshu thought it over. "That
