They moved quickly, and by the time they returned to the ward, five minutes remained.
In the corner of the ward, Wang Yong and the other man had already returned long ago. One look at their appearance was enough to tell they had had an awful time.
They were filthy, their clothes in tatters, blood splattered everywhere. It was impossible to tell whether it belonged to monsters or themselves—perhaps both. Huang Yousheng, in particular, was in a far worse state.
Not only was his entire body a mangled mess of blood and flesh, but his right sleeve hung empty. His entire right hand was gone. The wound was clean, clearly severed in a single stroke by some sharp weapon, and blood was still seeping from it.
Huang Yousheng's lips had gone pale, and his darkened face was filled with the aura of death.
It was clearly due to blood loss. If the bleeding was not stopped soon, he probably would not make it.
Bo Shuo could reach that conclusion with just one glance.
They must have encountered other ghosts.
The severed surface was smooth—a knife wound. None of the monsters Bo Shuo had encountered so far used knives.
"Save me! Please, save me!" When Huang Yousheng saw them return, light instantly burst forth in his formerly lifeless eyes. Enduring the sharp pain, he crawled straight toward them.
Bo Shuo ignored him. His gaze merely swept over the severed limb before returning to his own bed.
It was rather interesting. Though he did not know what had happened between Wang Yong and Huang Yousheng, their relationship had clearly deteriorated drastically.
Bo Shuo could even sense the resentment and hatred Huang Yousheng had carefully concealed in his eyes.
Those emotions were clearly not directed at Bo Shuo. Otherwise, the system would have announced it long ago.
That left only one possibility: those emotions were directed at Wang Yong.
"What exactly happened?" Xu Yi frowned, walked over to inspect his wound, then took out a bottle of Recovery Potion and dripped it onto the injury.
The wound began to scab over, and the bleeding stopped.
Recovery Potions were nothing to Xu Yi. He could simply spend money to buy more after getting out.
But Huang Yousheng certainly knew quite a bit of information.
"How did your arm get injured?"
At the mention of it, the terror in Huang Yousheng's eyes seemed ready to spill out. Trembling, he said, "It was the Dean! We encountered the Dean!"
The Dean?
Before Xu Yi could continue questioning him, Huang Yousheng added in fragments.
"To escape the Patrol Ghost's pursuit, we went down to the first basement level."
"There was a Medical Staff Lounge, a Solitary Room, a Morgue, and the Director's Office there. Since it was daytime, only a small number of monsters working the night shift were in the Medical Staff Lounge. We hid well and weren't discovered..." Huang Yousheng's voice faltered because he saw Wang Yong walking over.
Wang Yong patted his shoulder and threatened him with a false smile. "It's getting late. The Doctor and nurses will be coming to make their rounds soon. We can talk later."
Huang Yousheng's entire body jolted as though struck by electricity. His terror intensified, but he still did not dare openly fall out with Wang Yong, so he did not say another word.
But Bo Shuo had no intention of letting Wang Yong brush it aside so easily. With a soft scoff, he pressed his scalpel directly against Huang Yousheng's neck.
Those Deep Purple eyes were filled with cold severity. He uttered one simple, brutal word. "Talk."
So fast!
Wang Yong had not even had time to react.
Could an E-rank Examinee really display such speed?
Huang Yousheng, threatened by Bo Shuo, trembled all over. Extreme killing intent washed over him, coldness spreading across his neck. It seemed that if he made the slightest movement, he would be split in two.
"I'll talk! I'll talk! Don't kill me!"
"We searched empty rooms without monsters and found their work schedule. Then we went to the Dean's Office—"
"Brother Wang told me to go in and investigate. He said he had scanned it with an item and there were no monsters inside." At this point, Huang Yousheng's expression collapsed further. "There really were no monsters in the room, but the instant I entered, the Dean came back!"
"The Dean came back!"
Huang Yousheng's teeth chattered. It was as if he had recalled the nightmare from the past, and his voice took on a sobbing tone.
As Huang Yousheng filled in the whole sequence of events, everyone finally learned how his arm had been severed—it had been cut off by the Dean.
Even Wang Yong, who appeared unscathed, had only managed to escape from the Dean by using an item.
If the Dean had not suddenly vanished for some reason, both of them probably would have died there.
He described the Dean as exceptionally fierce and terrifying, cruel and vicious.
Just then, there was a knock on the door outside.
The rounds had begun.
But this time, something unexpected happened. The Pink-clothed Nurse came to find Bo Shuo.
"Mr. Bo, our Dean wishes to see you." Her tone carried an apology. "The Dean originally wanted to come see you personally, but something came up, so he could only send me to bring you to him."
Everyone's attention focused on the words "the Dean."
Huang Yousheng reacted even more fiercely. Thinking he had misheard, his expression changed dramatically.
It was clear how deep his trauma was regarding the word "Dean."
And now, such a terrifying being wanted to meet Bo Shuo alone. Just thinking about it made it obvious that this was anything but simple.
Alarm bells rang in Xu Yi's heart.
This Dean was definitely a ghost above D-rank. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for Wang Yong, an E-rank Examinee, to lose a life-saving item.
Though Mr. Bo was powerful, facing the Dean head-on was still far too dangerous.
