Background / History
Bo Shuo was a terminally ill young man with bone cancer. Diagnosed six months earlier and given only three months to live, he endured repeated hospital transfers, chemotherapy, and operations rather than accept death. He agrees to 007’s proposal after learning that completing its missions can grant him a healthy body and inexhaustible wealth. His assigned mission is to conquer every SSS-rank dungeon from Dream Awakening before its escaped gods can invade reality 1.
Though initially an ordinary person, Bo Shuo spends a year practicing the demeanor of a ruthless “big shot” in a learning space. He deliberately presents coldness, control, and overwhelming confidence to frighten others into producing Emotion Points, while concealing his own fear and uncertainty 2 4.
His early Lost Paradise successes establish his reputation. He defeats E-class Ghosts with single strikes, impresses Xu Yi and Gu Baiyu, and earns the Dean’s recognition by supplying calculations for a science-fiction project. The Dean subsequently accepts him as a disciple and gives him an S-class Ghost Artifact 11 15.
Appearance
Bo Shuo is an exceptionally handsome, pale youth whose intimidating bearing often makes others mistake him for a veteran top-tier player. His appearance varies through Mimicry and role-playing, but his familiar examinee image is black long hair, deep-purple eyes, and a red mole at the corner of one eye 27 201.
- Initially appears severely emaciated and sickly in a hospital gown, with bruised wrists and a prominent collarbone 1.
- Has sharp, narrow eyes and a naturally stern expression that reinforces his cultivated aura 14.
- Can alter his eye color, hairstyle, facial features, build, and apparent age through Mimicry 25.
- In one disguise, he appears as a slender black-haired teenager with black eyes and two blue streaks in collarbone-length hair 25.
Personality
Bo Shuo is calculating, observant, and intensely survival-driven. He does not mistake composure for fearlessness: much of his early dominance is carefully rehearsed performance, used to conceal panic and secure the initiative before stronger opponents can exploit weakness 2 14.
He is especially skilled at reading unstable people. Rather than matching overwhelming force directly, he provokes, bargains with, or psychologically restrains opponents such as Xi Guici and Wen Yanqing. He considers strategy his advantage over physically superior enemies and prefers an unexpected route over following another person’s plan 40 187 242.
His outward indifference coexists with genuine attachment. He treats 007 as his closest family despite knowing the system’s connection to the World Consciousness, prepares protection and assets for Bo Chunzhang, and comforts her when she is injured and emotionally unstable 174 266 305.
Abilities & Skills
Emotion Point Manipulation
Bo Shuo earns Emotion Points from others’ emotional fluctuations, primarily by sustaining his terrifying big-shot persona.
- Exchanges points for recovery, skills, items, and temporary power boosts 39 71 181.
- Can materialize emotions; he creates “Heartache” to injure and provoke the Silver Haired God 61 62.
- Uses emotional reactions as a resource, privately viewing particularly productive frightened bystanders as “Experience Packs” 9.
- His reserves can be rapidly depleted by high-cost effects or by the Silver Haired God’s proximity 60 181.
Combat and Artifact Use
Bo Shuo possesses considerable combat ability even before his divine advancement.
- Defeats two E-class Ghosts with one strike each 11.
- Defeats the Ghost Groom while still publicly regarded as a C-rank examinee 39.
- Uses an S-class Ghost Artifact scalpel capable of easily splitting a transformed corpse-monster 15 19.
- Remains vulnerable to exhaustion after major battles and initially relies on Emotion Points to recover 39.
Illusion Realm and Mimicry
Bo Shuo combines deception with battlefield control.
- Activates an Illusion Realm that erases his traces, alters room layouts, and obstructs an enemy’s line of sight 96.
- Uses Mimicry to change his appearance and evade pursuit; Bai Ziheng’s group employs a device specifically capable of detecting it 25 71.
- Uses forged ritual effects and 500,000 Emotion Points to imitate a divine aura, frightening Lady Golia into treating him as an exalted avatar 124.
Puppet Silk
Bo Shuo gains and develops control-type silk connected to Xi Guici’s Talent Authority.
- His soul is protected by the World Consciousness, preventing Xi Guici from implanting control threads into him 67.
- Demonstrates Puppet Silk under his own control, shocking Xi Guici when the talent manifests through Bo Shuo instead 68.
- Spreads silk across a battlefield at A+ strength, though Wen Yanqing can cut the threads down with his sword 243.
- Later severs Xi Guici’s threads with a thought and uses blood-red silk as his own distinct power 268 270.
- Receives Xi Guici’s full Talent Authority at the cost of inheriting an unstable power tied to an opponent who is not truly dead 271.
Authority and Divine Power
Bo Shuo’s later advancement centers on acquiring and controlling Authority.
- Obtains All Authority over the Flawed Authority exam venue after clearing its Unique Mission 266.
- Absorbs an Exam Venue Fragment, gaining a rose pattern on his wrist that permits communication with Yi Rong 267.
- Must manage a dangerously elevated Corruption Value caused by absorbed power; Emotion Points can clear or suppress it only temporarily 267 289.
- Collects Authority from shattered exam venues in the Real World after becoming a complete god 297.
- Can modify the dreamscape around Yi Rong’s orphanage, constructing locations such as houses, cities, a theme park, and a castle 310 313.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- S-class Ghost Artifact Scalpel — given by the Dean as an apprenticeship gift; used to cut through ghostly and transformed targets 15 19.
- Soul-bound Dark Blade — a mysterious blade attached to his wrist; 007 warns that it is connected to his soul 71.
- Slaughterhouse Leader Work ID — allows him to impersonate the Slaughterhouse Leader and intimidate security guards into submission 217 218.
- Rose wrist pattern — formed after absorbing an Exam Venue Fragment; serves as a channel to Yi Rong 267.
- Ruby Jade Pendant — protective item upgraded into B-rank armor for Bo Chunzhang’s safety 174.
Relationships
- 007 — His system companion and original recruiter. 007 supplies calculations, tactical information, and emotional support; Bo Shuo eventually considers it his closest family, and 007 becomes his divine dependent after severing ties with the World Consciousness 1 15 266 297.
- Bo Chunzhang — A close family member and his counterpart. Bo Shuo prepares protection for her, promises to return earlier, and later comforts her after she is injured for defying the World Consciousness 174 297 305.
- Yi Rong — Silver Haired God whose derivatives and main body possess an intense fixation on Bo Shuo. Their relationship moves from hostility and coercive “partnership” to dangerous negotiations involving Yi Rong’s Authority and the plan to kill Yi Rong’s selves 60 264 265.
- Xi Guici — An obsessive puppet-controller who regards Bo Shuo as similar to himself. His attempts to control Bo Shuo fail, but he later gives Bo Shuo his Talent Authority and disintegrates, promising they will meet again 67 270 271.
- Wen Yanqing / Xavier — A demigod-level rival whose motives Bo Shuo reads unusually well. They clash in the Slaughterhouse before entering a transaction-based alliance against the larger crisis 187 243 293.
- Meng Ran Nian — A perceptive examinee who chooses to follow Bo Shuo despite fearing him; he becomes one of Bo Shuo’s more reliable allies in the Slaughterhouse 195 234 268.
- Yu Zhou — Leaves Wen Yanqing’s group to follow Bo Shuo and later supports his side with an amplification ability 195 243.
- Xu Yi and Gu Baiyu — Early companions who witness Bo Shuo’s strength in his first instances and assist him through the hospital exam venue 9 11.
- God of Truth and 223 — Competing deities who both attempt to claim or recruit Bo Shuo. He refuses to become either side’s pawn 260.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Savior and “Big Shot” Persona
Bo Shuo accepts 007’s mission to survive terminal illness, then weaponizes a fabricated aura of invincibility to obtain Emotion Points and deter threats. His performance is so convincing that examinees routinely assume he is an unfathomable veteran or an instance boss 1 2 74 119.
Early Lost Paradise Rise
He rapidly advances through early exam venues, gains the Dean’s S-class scalpel, and develops a following among examinees who seek his protection. His public reputation grows far beyond his actual rank because he repeatedly defeats threats that should overwhelm a newcomer 11 15 39.
Conflict with Gods and Puppeteers
Bo Shuo encounters the Silver Haired God and survives by exploiting its interest in him, falsely reframing their relationship to seize a measure of control. At the same time, Xi Guici becomes obsessed with Bo Shuo after discovering that his own Puppet Silk cannot control him 60 61 67.
Slaughterhouse and Flawed Authority
In the Bloody Slaughterhouse, Bo Shuo impersonates the Slaughterhouse Leader, competes against Wen Yanqing, investigates the hidden orphanage, and eventually clears the Flawed Authority venue. The reward propels him from B-rank to S+ and gives him control of the venue’s Authority 217 234 243 266.
Demigod and Complete God
Xi Guici’s sacrifice forces Bo Shuo into Demigod status, while the collapsing boundaries between Lost Paradise and reality create an opportunity to collect more Authority. Bo Shuo organizes allies and divine dependents to clear exam venues on a large scale, eventually becoming a complete god 271 293 297.
Dreamscape of Yi Rong
Bo Shuo enters and remains within Youthful Yi Rong’s orphanage dreamscape, discovering that Yi Rong has been waiting for him and attempting to keep him there. Rather than immediately destroy the space, Bo Shuo negotiates, settles near the orphanage, and helps expand the incomplete world beyond Yi Rong’s memories 310 311 313.
