Because S.H.I.E.L.D. was evacuating the personnel inside the base, most of the doors along the way had been left open. An Yang descended without obstruction, sensing the Cube's energy more and more clearly.
Like the United States under President Hoover in Transformers, S.H.I.E.L.D. had tried to bury the Cube's traces beneath thick layers of earth. But they had never expected that once the Cube activated, both the energy waves it emitted and its gamma rays would possess such formidable penetrating power.
That was what had drawn An Yang here.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had also never imagined that the person trying to seize the Cube would bypass this heavily guarded research base entirely. He had come from within, through the door opened by the Cube.
Five minutes later, An Yang saw another tightly shut door. He took a deep breath and turned back.
The interior of the base was like a maze. He began wondering whether he should retreat and search for the passage Loki had opened directly from underground to the surface after taking the Cube, instead of wandering around here and wasting time.

An Yang secretly made up his mind. If he still couldn't find the way, he would simply destroy a door and force his way through!
Sure enough, the next door was shut as well.
That meant this passage led somewhere different. Among the many passages descending underground, there should be only one that went directly to the Cube's underground research area.
