As Vundabar slowly revealed the truth behind his scheme, both the Man in Black and Shane, who was in the Shadow Dimension, were startled.
"What?!"
The Man in Black even cried out, overwhelmed by his emotions.
Vundabar was clearly displeased by such a jumpy reaction. Fortunately, he was in a good mood, so he merely delivered a curt reprimand and let it go.
Rachel's soul magic was still in effect. The Man in Black's deliberately amplified emotions surged again and again, eroding his reason until he actually began questioning Vundabar.
"He's just a mere Earthling!"
"And? You want to ask how that man named Wilson could possibly contain the Dark Lord's consciousness?"
Vundabar snorted coldly.
"Of course he cannot. Even a ten-thousandth of His Lordship's power would be difficult to find a vessel for on this planet."
Naturally, Vundabar mentally excluded Superman and "Monarch" from that assessment.
Vundabar did not consider Superman difficult to deal with. After all, the Kryptonian's weaknesses were far too obvious, practically laid out in plain sight. Yet throughout countless universes, Superman's various multiversal counterparts had been the main force resisting Darkseid's invasions. There had even been a Superman from one universe-the Black Superman of the Old World Main Universe-who had defeated Darkseid in a head-on battle.
Even if that had only been an avatar, Vundabar's personal feelings left him deeply loathing Superman's very existence.
The Dark Lord might not care, but Vundabar could not accept the great ruler he revered using that detestable "archenemy's" body as a vessel.
As for Monarch's Past Self, Vundabar's observations over this period had shown that the boy's body was perfect enough.
