If the Joker's plot to murder Lois three years ago had been the most psychologically agonizing moment of Injustice Superman's life...

Then Shane's drilling strike was the most physically agonizing moment of his life.

From the moment he had decided to kill Shazam, Injustice Superman had kept every sense operating at full capacity. Shazam's strength demanded nothing less.

Otherwise, if he softened and let Shazam escape, Batman would likely recruit him, now that he had lost all faith in the Superman Regime.

That was something Injustice Superman could never accept.

Yet he had completely failed to sense when Shane appeared above him.

Only when the attack struck did Injustice Superman barely register it.

Against an opponent this powerful, however, he no longer had time to dodge.

He took the hit head-on. The crack of his spine shattering rang out as he briefly lost consciousness.

Shane grabbed Shazam's short cape and watched Injustice Superman plunge into the clouds without so much as a grunt.

"Oh! Thank you!"

Shazam rubbed his eyelids as he thanked him. His eyes had been scorched by Heat Vision, but Achilles's endurance swiftly repaired them, even after they had nearly been boiled. Once he could make out blurry shapes again, Shazam gave Shane a somewhat puzzled look.

"Uh, do we know each other?"

Shane glanced over him and, after confirming that Shazam had mostly recovered, released his cape.

He had to admit that while plenty of people in the Injustice Universe were sick in the head, their costume designs really did have something going for them.

In the comics, perhaps the artists had used those sharp angles to emphasize the characters' more pronounced traits.

But seen in reality, those angular, metallic designs genuinely looked a little better than the costumes of the Main Universe.
