His full title was: Chronos, who, knowing his boss's memory was unreliable, had set out ahead of him after Batman relayed Injustice Batman's permission to go treasure hunting in the Fortress of Solitude, successfully avoiding the crowd of fans and arriving early at the Resistance Base.
Shane scratched his right eyebrow awkwardly.
He really had forgotten Chronos again. Even after Batman reminded him about it, he still hadn't thought to bring Chronos along.
He hadn't even noticed that Chronos was nowhere near the battlefield.
"I thought you'd already gone to the Fortress of Solitude."
Shane laughed it off, trying to cover for himself.
Chronos's mouth twitched, but considering his boss's unusual circumstances, he could only sigh.
"I wanted to finish this mission myself, too, but this Batman said we couldn't just rush over there."
Injustice Batman picked up the conversation at just the right moment.
"Superman moved his parents into the Fortress of Solitude over a year ago. And to keep those poor old people from seeing bad news about him every day, he disconnected the simulated Earth network inside the fortress."
The meaning was clear. Before visiting the Fortress of Solitude, they first had to establish whether Injustice Superman was dead.
