Shane had known a thing or two about kryptonite in his previous life.

Over the long course of the comics, all sorts of changes had given rise to variant isotopes with different effects and versions.

They had various positive and negative effects on Kryptonians, especially the main character, Superman.

Their main purpose was to advance the plot or make things more entertaining.

The appearance of various Superman knockoffs, especially his opposite, Bizarro, had nearly doubled the corresponding types of kryptonite.

Before the universe-rebooting Crisis on Infinite Earths, there had once been more than twenty types of kryptonite.

But after Crisis on Infinite Earths rebooted everything, the types of kryptonite had been drastically reduced. Some that had once possessed wondrous effects had been transformed by the cosmic reboot into ordinary elements found on Earth.

Unfortunately, Shane had arrived before the actual New 52 reboot, but Crisis on Infinite Earths was already history that had been forgotten in every sense of the word.

The kryptonite collection room contained nine types in total, and two of them were meant for Bizarro.

Shane saw no X-Kryptonite, which, before Crisis on Infinite Earths, had been established as capable of granting superpowers to any living being.

He did, however, see platinum kryptonite, which could grant superpowers to ordinary people.

Unfortunately, it had no effect on Shane. He already had superpowers, so he did not qualify as an ordinary person. Oh, it would work on Mal and Mia, but Shane felt that suddenly turning those two little ones into people who relied on superpowers might not be such a good idea.

I'll ask them about it later.

If there had been X-Kryptonite, Shane would have liked to try stacking another set of Superman's abilities on himself.
