When he turned around, Deadwing was floating behind him.
A little explanation was in order.
DC had a superhero called Deadman.
He was a spirit whose real name was Boston Brand.
Like Nightwing, Dick, Boston had been an acrobat in a Gotham circus. In terms of age, though, Boston was Nightwing's senior, and the two had never crossed paths before becoming heroes.

He was also a member of the Justice League Dark that Constantine founded in the original story.
In Shane's main universe, however, the organization resembling the Justice League Dark had been formed entirely by Batman recruiting magic users. Constantine could only occasionally get his name on the roster.

After all, the world of the dead had its own rules. As someone who had already died, Dick Grayson faced many restrictions and could not simply appear before his loved ones whenever he liked.
It was only after Shane slapped Damian back to his senses that Deadwing quietly thanked him.
He had never expected Shane to hear him, much less eventually see him.
So things became a little awkward.
As for Shane...
