"What does that have to do with you?"
Shane didn't even spare Constantine a glance.
"You're insane! Imprisoning tens of thousands of souls who haven't committed a single crime, all at once?! You know there's only one kind of being in this world that never gets tired of doing that!"
Constantine's eyes kept darting toward the phantom of Neron behind Shane.
"Demons! Only demons imprison souls and torment them!"
Shane stopped abruptly in midair. First, he gave Constantine a suspicious look, then closed his eyes to check what he could sense.
But soon, Shane opened his eyes again, his expression indifferent.
"Are you messing with me? They couldn't possibly shake my mental world."
"Of course the collective can't affect you! I'm talking about your nature!"
Constantine gritted his teeth, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.
"After Neron gave you that silver coin, you were a demon in name at most, not in essence!"
"But now you've started doing things only demons do. You'll actually become a demon, do you understand?!" Shane frowned, then checked with his Divine Intuition.
"But even if I actually become a demon, it won't have any negative effect on me."
"And when those words come out of your mouth, it's hard not to wonder whether you have some ulterior motive. You're Constantine, after all."
Constantine froze.
He seemed to want to say something else, but after a brief silence, he merely gave a self-mocking smile.
"So you weren't going to believe anything I said anyway, were you?"
Shane resumed flying, carrying Constantine straight through the clouds.
"At the very least, whenever you tell me something I don't know, I have to think it over carefully or find some way to verify it. Isn't that the bare minimum when dealing with someone who lies as much
